If a piece is missing how can a foundry RE-cast? Don’t they need the mold as a pattern? Please somebody tell me who is the foundry?

Ive just scored one like this. Can you tell me what foundry you use? Also did these have slicers on them too? I saw someone had one on there

I just found an old tool in my father’s Estate items. I had no clue what it was until surfing the net. It’s also an old apple peeler. There is a part broken. Before I knew what it was I soaked it in WD 40 rust soak. It worked great. After soaking I tried to dry it but it rusted again right away. I’m trying to put it back together. It’s a different design but this gives me hope. Thanks. These are so cool!

I am so excited I can't stand still! After looking for Goodell Bonanza Apple Peeler for over a year, I finally found one on an online auction site and have just received it. It is in good shape and appears to have all of the original parts intact without the slicer attachment, but the whole unit is frozen tight. I am looking forward to begin the restoration process! BTW, I did find a source for new blades for the skinner and corer blades. The guy reproduces them out of stainless steel.

Can you post your source for the skinner and corer blades?

Hello , I have the same identical corer/peeler but its missing the mounting bracket & corer knife as well as the bar pieces which connects to the gear and that push the apple off the 3 prong fork . Do you have any of these replacement parts on hand or is it possible to get replacements anywhere you know of.
@chrislegaux11 жыл бұрын
Victor, You will have to make them. The pieces you mentioned can be made from stock materials. The corer knife is cut from a section of 5/8" stainless steel tubing. The bracket that holds it is a section of 5/8" pipe. The return bar is just cut from bar stock to fit the rectangular openings as is the upright finger.

+Joseph Tracy - Hello, I am looking for a slicer attachment. I never even knew they existed until viewing this video. I have a Bonanza in all original, working condition. If you have a slice I would love to see photos of it and possibly have a replica manufactured.

Hi Victor, Pictured below is the very rare Bonanza accessory slicer and a simplified version I make in bronze, which appears to work as well as the much more complicated Goodell version. You are welcome to make your own or buy one of my bronze versions for $ 93. plus $7 shipping. I looked into having duplicate parts cast from my original slicer but found it to be much to expensive , which is why I made a half dozen simplified bronze versions. Joe Tracy ******@****

How were you able to have parts cast for the peeler. I am missing the bar and attachment that ejects the apple and core. Do you have contact infornation for these parts?

Hi Chris, I have a Goodell also that needs some parts recast. Can you tell me who you sent your parts to to be recast and what was the cost of them? Thanks, Brian
@chrislegaux3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Brian. I cant recommend the guy I used. He took many months to get the part to me and that was after I had to hound him for it. He did do a good job, but I wouldn't trust he would ever get to it.

Hi,I just purchased one of these on Ebay and the handle casting broke in shipment. How much did it cost to have the handle recast. Also who did it for you? Thanks Kitt Plummer

I have had one for 40 years. It is pronounced 'GOOD ell and originated in Antrim, NH. I spoke there with the grandson of the founder. The best Goodell machine was the 'Improved Bay State' that is smaller and table mounted. I have a machine similar to the Bonanza called the "Rival" made in Rochester, NY. Your missing 'slicer' is a simple blade that is genius. Goodell made many machines, the first being the 'White Mountain' which all modern peelers are patterned after. 'I know apple peelers'. Hi, I am very interested in your comment about the slicer attachment. Do you have an image if this part? I have a restored bonanza and I'd love to add that part as well. Thanks!

We just purchased one of these. The peeling blade seems to be very dull. Do you know where you can purchase another blade? Could I possibly have your email as well you seem to be a great contact person for help with getting this up and working.
@chrislegaux7 жыл бұрын
Jessica, You can resharpen the blade. Just unscrew it from the holder and pass it on a sharpening stone. Like one used for a woodworking chisel

Beautiful machine. I've had one for 35 years. Small correction: It is pronounced GOOD L, (not GOODELL) from a family descendant in Antrium NH. Don

Could you possibly send me an up close picture of your peeling blade? I'm having trouble with mine and have seen two variations just wanted to see what works. I've seen some strait and some with what look to be wings or 90 degree bends on the sides. Thanks . Just comment back and I can send you my email address.
