I don't get why people say animatronics are creepy when they move. Sure, the uncanny valley is one thing. But I don't get that when I see this Billy Bob model at work. It's very life-like, and not in an uncomfortable way. I would enjoy seeing this thing in person.

I would LOVE to see a run through of the control system you are using to play (and / or program) the show. I am curious how modern Rock-afire shows are run. I know the original system used a sync track to audio on a reel to reel recorder, but I know that tape deteriorates in time and that digital solutions "should" be in place. I know that the Chuck E. Cheese system for a full 5 animatronic show used to use a Hi-Fi VHS system and that was replaced by DVD. In all cases, the storage medium is standard two track (Rock-afire was 3 or 4 track if I am not mistaken), in which the audio was mono and the other track was used for the program synchronization. The later Studio C systems used by Chuck E Cheese, was different as it was DVD based and only extracted the time code from the DVD. The computer that synced the show's movements had a program for the show loaded on board. Now I am sure that in this day and age, everything could be done and stored on a computer. The show audio, sync, and output drives for the cylinders and show lighting. This is what I am interested in. I am guessing that something could be done with an Arduino or Raspberry Pi? So that is why I am asking. What would someone use to control an animatronic stage show, like the Rock-afire Explosion today?
