For anyone that never got to experience this, what you're missing from the video is that each person has individual stereo speakers behind their head that played the sound of the monster flying around the room and eventually perching behind you. You then feel its hot breath and a serpent-like tongue tickles the back of your head. It was really well done, but also really intense! I think my mom and little sister lost a few years off their lives that day.

Don't forget the water that was sprayed on people when the maintenance guy got eaten. Yes, Disney sprayed simulated blood on guests. "Those were the days..." 😉

​@bradrriddle Water was also sprayed at the end when the alien exploded to simulate it guts and body fluids. Good thing Disney didn't go for the Xenomorph idea from Alien cuz you wouldn't spray acid onto the guests, that'd be murder at worst and causing severe damage on a person at best.

*** this ride and whoever thought it was a good idea to put it in Magic Kingdom of all places. Terrified the crap out of me as a child. In hindsight, its insane that someone actually thought this attraction made sense in the "happiest place on earth" Wouldve fit in great at MGM or even universal

This was an AMAZING special effects show. With the amount of screaming, this must have been filmed before they made it less intense. Even after they tweaked it, the experience was still too much for the Magic Kingdom. It would have gone over much better in the Studios. Would love to see them bring it back.

I was fortunate to experience this ride a few times. Once i stood up as the shoulder clamps came down, allowing me to slip out of my chair. I proceeded to grab my moms legs during the scene where the monster breaths in your neck, she was beyong terrified and to this day i haven't told her 😑 😕. *note she was seated in front of me.

Every now and then I remember the trauma of the Alien Encounter ride at Disney World... Too bad they tore it down. They just should've kept little kids from being dragged onto it. (I was pulled along when I was little, against my will and it definitely left its mark on me)

I only been to Disney once in my life & that was in the early-mid 90's & there are honestly only 2 or 3 things I vividly remember from that experience & man this is at the top, I came out of that ride traumatized, but it would've been the main thing I would've wanted to experience again if I ever went back before it was removed 😆 It was sooooo intense (even my grandparents, who took me there agreed lol) but I do believe knowing how it worked that it was ahead of its time & should still be around for people to experience today.

Im 28 and forgot that i ever went on this attraction, had to really think hard to remember that i did. I do remember it being a little scary but i definitely dont have ptsd from it. What i do remember though is that the breathing on your neck just felt very weird and uncomfortable/offputting and stinky. But as far as being scared shitless i dont remember it being THAT scary

This was a FANTASTIC experience. I was lucky enough to experience it once or twice, and it was totally new & unlike anything else. It actually reminded me of stories from the early days of traveling carnivals & freak shows, where a man dressed as a gorilla would get loose and chase the audience around. If you were here, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

Even as a kid, I felt this attraction was out of place. I didn't hate it, but didn't "Disney" love it either. I'd much rather of had a revamped mission to wherever over this or "stitch's greatest mistake". But hey, they gotta sell plushies, eh?
