I'm 80 yrs young and lived in the lace paint era and could take it or leave it, but in this case I love it, that's a pun, I've got a 1922 ice box, old term, and it works has an old bee hive condencer on top and this has inspired me to paint mine, great job, love your talent, Jim las vegas nv

Amazing work. The fridge looks beautiful. Love the color and everything you’ve done. Those old fridges are workhorses. They don’t make ‘em like they used to.

Beautiful. Nice job on the handle. It’s amazing that a 75 year old fridge is still running strong but if you buy a new one you’re lucky to get 7 to 10 years. Something went wrong there. 😎
@jfan4reva Жыл бұрын
The reason why the fridge didn't come with a handle is because after they were disposed of, EVERYONE took the handles and latches off after numerous cases where small children crawled inside, closed the door, then couldn't open the door from the inside, and suffocated. You've beautifully restored a device that can repeat that tragedy. That's the reason all fridges today have magnetic latches with soft vinyl seals on the doors (soft vinyl doesn't need to be clamped tightly to form an air-tight seal, so the magnetic latches are sufficiently strong, and can be opened easily from the inside.) I was curious to see if you'd replace the mechanical latch with a magnetic one, but unfortunately you didn't. WHEN you dispose of this fridge, before it leaves the premises, please UNSCREW THE LATCH, remove it from the fridge, and either destroy it, or else throw it in the trash at a separate location, so that it can never be found and re-installed. You guys are all too young to have heard about this, so it's not your fault you weren't aware of it. The engineers that designed the fridge didn't think about it either. Sorry to spoil your day. Enjoy your fridge and your Coronas and retire the fridge responsibly.
@parkerlamarbrook Жыл бұрын
@@jfan4revayou think they’re just gonna throw away the fridge because a child can suffocate themselves inside? You know what else can cause a child to suffocate? Literally anything small enough to fit in their mouth or large enough to go over their head. Old cars don’t have airbags, some don’t have seatbelts, and none of them survive well in crashes - you don’t see people “disposing” of classic cars do you?

Im an old man and about a hundred years ago I was a service tech for Sears. I have great admiration for those who bring some love to these old boxes. They are a tangible link to a past when household items were built to last. There were some really far out designs from the 30s thru the 50s. If the sweated system is intact , they’ll likely last forever.
