I’ve really missed you. I’m 71 and have about eight antique radios. The oldest is my grandparents 95 year old Radiola. 😊They’ve all been restored. Wish I were younger so I could learn to repair them. I’ve missed your videos so much and glad you just released this one. Thanks so much for entertaining and educating me! PS: Wife just counted. 16 antique radios. Ooops! Who’s counting when you’re having fun??

If you are actually having cognitive loss PLEASE make as many videos as you can before you lose it. You are a national treasure of knowledge on how old electronics work and how old tubes were made and it will truly be tragic if the information in your brain pan gets lost. I always know I'm seeing a professional in action when I see a cracked and busted solder reel! Every old school engineer has one on the bench and I think they last forever hence the dilapidated state! Love watching you troubleshoot your way to a repaired item - from the diagnostics through to always having the right (or 'that'll do, close enough') resistor\capacitor etc in the reclaimed trays!

What a shrewd purchase you got Ron. A 1921 HR receiver and two stage HZ amplifier . There is a nice one page illustration of how the set works from world radio history in their copy of Radio Digest Illustrated from july 29,1922. Left side of page 6 explains it all and page 7 is the illustration. Nice repairs to all that mishandling throughout its 100 years existence. I do wish you a Happy New Year and many more years of educating us on vintage electronics! Steve

People don't usually die from Alzheimer's - they die with it. But a change in character is quite common. I had 2 very close relatives with it and frankly, death would have been kinder to them. But sadly they were both in good physical health for a long time. 😞

I’ve lost a mother and two brothers to Alzheimer’s….the most recent just before Christmas. I’m not prepared to resign myself to thinking I will become a victim of this heinous malady. I’m a professional Jazz musician, and as such, at age 67 I have no intentions of retiring. I think as long as my mind stays invested in the pursuit of excellence, then I am less and less susceptible. You have a wealth of electronic knowledge….you stay invested in that art. Never assume anything. Best of wishes. I love your videos!

🤔"I put it somewhere so I couldn't lose it - now I've lost it". That just about describes me too, Ron - EVERY DAY! I've lost count of how many things I now have 2 of, because I had to buy them again. Sadly the cross-modulation performance of those old radio designs just can't cope with modern high power, close frequency spaced radio stations. (But I really doubt you'll suffer dementia all the time you regularly exercise your brain diagnosing and fixing radios). Happy New Year!

Sorry to hear about your possible illness, I stopped putting things in a safe place because I could never find them either 😅 Really enjoy your videos I have watched them all and most I have watched multiple times. They give me more of an interest and understanding in old electronics and how they work as I get to see a hands on approach and not just a text with a schematic. Really enjoy the glass blowing videos and making vacuum tubes plus the high voltage transformer is definitely a favourite. Dont really get to see vacuum tubes being made these days and really makes you think about other possibilities and combinations with making vacuum tubes.
