@colethecornstar a word of advice from a contractor. With the scope of work you’re doing you might want to do a safe room next to the movie theater. Steel door or a safe door and instead of wood framing, pour concrete with the door anchored in. You’re out in the country but a room for family to hide in and/or have your guns, documents, family heirlooms etc. might as well while you’re down there.

Seek the help of a sound engineer, in a sound room you want no walls parallel to each other, so yes the rough stone wall is good and will make a great feature. If you do have parallel walls, things like stretched canvas wall hangings, paintings, printed canvas can deaden a room but make them big, floor to ceiling and as wide as is high. Go to a movie theater and have a look at the engineering of the rooms.

Agree!!! This is a part of Coles video style, the guy has grown his channel to 620,000 in just a few years I say don't fix what isn't broken. This is HIS style that he has used for years and it WORKS. I use earbuds exclusively not once have I ever needed to adjust the volume for his videos coming from another video I might have been watching. I really hope that Cole does not try to change his style for the vocal minority, and remembers that his videos are getting 200,000-500,000 views...a hundred people telling him to "stop Shouting" are NOT by any stretch of the imagination the majority but rather the very vocal tiny minority. And for those who say turning down the volume doesn't work because then when someone else speaks they have to turn it up again, well 99% of the speaking in Coles videos...is him.

I use earbuds exclusively as I have a child who is very sensitive to noise so there is never volume on anything in our house. I have never needed to turn the volume down on his videos. I find all the yelling comments very hard to understand when the vast majority of his viewers do not seem to have this problem with his volume. I don't know, maybe it has something to do with your specific settings on your device? Cole has grown this channel to over 620k,imo he does not need to change the way he makes his videos.

I don't know if you are 100% complete back filling the tile to the creek... but this would be a perfect time to move your tank farther from your house. And on top of that... copper isn't great to be directly buried in the dirt. I would run a 2" pvc chase down a ways with the tile and run a new copper gas line.

Very good! May I suggest a precast end for your tile with wings and that you shutter the back wall, insert a rebar sheet, and concrete. You can then put a stud wall. You will need acoustic panels in the room. Slabs of rippled foam covered in fabric. We recently had an acoustic engineer in at the public hall where I work to do this and now the sound is great! Both are going to happen. You cannot gravity drain a foundation... it really is best to pump the water out , up to grade, then to the creek or tile.. sounds stupid, but prevents both occurences.

Cole, I’d form and add 4 inches of concrete and some rebar to the rough side of your foundation walls where they will be “exposed” to the construction of the movie theater. That rubble will deteriorate over time as it oxidizes rather than being buried as it was before. Keep going!

personally as a Mom, I would NOT want that really rough wall exposed in a room where the littles are definitely going to be spending lots of time. Just an accident waiting to happen, even though Roman was able to get some of the sharper edges broken off, just one big push between two rough-housing brother and someone is going to the hospital. if it were me, this would be absolutely covered up.

I dug ditches years on end...thats easy digging , frozen wet clay with straw stomped into it will take the test of you...broke several mattoxs and wore out a few shovels. My favorite shovels were steel handle , light , fast, and tough. Nothing like throwing a spud bar into the ground as hard as you can and watch it just shiver.

Cole, before backfilling I'd make sure and grade check every 10 feet or so the entire length of the trench and verify its all downhill to the creek. Also, I'd highly suggest a few lines of perferated tile under the basement floor (theatre area) and connect to the tile in the trench. Also a must is a backflow preventer at the creek end of your tile and a critter guard. Other than those items, carry on.

As long as the beginning of the drainage tile is higher than the rest of the tile, the water will flow, even if there are spots that are a little higher or lower than the 1% grade.

I love the work here! Given the length of run on your drain, I would consider using an 8” or 10” PVC culvert bs the 4” line. I have replaced several 4” lines that frost has broken up or collapsed. You will also greatly reduce the likelihood of frozen lines in the spring.

I had this idea since you guys revealed the wall and the idea of a movie theatre. Leave the rock and give it a border with wood and then put LED lights behind the wood to light up the rock face. For ambient lighting. Hope you read this cole!!!!!!

you will need perc test for leach field plus probably digging all around the house - adding sand and gravel would be a help - leave everything exposed so you can do an allround inspection and get alt opinions besides just you and ronco, think about finishing all plumbing too then you can move on and pour, you want it perfect; the rest of the job will be comparatively easier. you should shoot grades and then shoot again - double check your work. I think tons more gravel will end up being your best firend

I know a passive system of drains is simple and least expensive, but for the amount of water you are seeing I think a proactive approach is needed. 2 or 3 sump pumps would not come amiss. And they could drain into your leech field that you already have in place.

Hi Cole, be sure to put wire screening around the discharge opening that will be in the stream / creek. many years ago we had a similar scenario and a ground hog came in our basement!! I rat can get in a 1" hole and a mouse can get in a 1/2" hole!!!

That sounds like a great idea to leave the rock exposed on the backside of the underground movie theater. After it's all cleaned out maybe you could spray it with something that will waterproof it and make it look a little shiny like polished rocks. It would make a great conversation piece and show how they originally built it.

So at the stage where the dirt pile was in the start of the last video, I would have put Top Soil on it and made a vegtable garden, I think that could be a nice landscape feature. But the pile got really big now and I dont know how much you and your family are into gardening vegtables.

Yep, looks like an underground natural spring to me. Good luck and I would ask an expert as to how to relocate the water. Maybe where it is coming out "down stream" dig yourself a deeper, bigger hole to make a pond for fishing and/or swimming. When it happens to overflow just put a pipe from the pond to the stream, thus keeping the stream going.

What gets me here is that instead of digging this enormous trench in the ground and dealing with all these issues, all that time and effort could have been spent putting real quality soundproofing in the attic space to make an amazing theater in much less time. Added bonus, your family could be moved out of your parent's house and in their own home before the year end. This project is just taking up time and resources.

Cole you need to put in multiple drain fields under the movie theatre area something along the lines of a French drain and connect them all to your main drain field line.
