I am unfamiliar with the 968 platform in regards to the electrical systems but if the 968 has a similar setup to the 928 S4, you will get a warning light with those LED taillights. They don't offer enough resistance to keep the system happy and you will get a lightbulb failure warning

I used them on my 996 without issue, they have resistors in them exactly for this reason. But I guess time will tell 😅

You and me both Chris! But on the upside, this is a very rewarding project as I can see just how exceptionally good the car is under all the grime. I am yet to discover the slightest spec of rust.

🤣Thanks Jeffrey! I don't know what I will be doing with it yet, this was a bit of an impulse buy. When I saw it looking al sorry for itself I just had to save it. The problem with this car, is that it will always be a flood damaged car, so selling it will be tough and I doubt I will recoup my investment. For now I just want to get it back on the road en drive it. Let's see what the future brings.

Did you put any aluminum tape on the inside of the housings to improve reflection where the original chrome coating has worn away?

No, the headlights are new units and the fogs are painted with chrome paint. I am going to ship them off to a specialist though for rechroming within the next couple of days.

Ah, ok @@jeffhammond8969, no I just gently cleaned them. The silver coating survived very wel in the taillights as far as I can see. The only way you could do tape is by splitting them open, but I have not gone that far...yet.

@@GarageBiljon actually, you can do it by laying in small pieces. Nice that yours survived well.
