We had a display of assorted tools, and one firearm found on the farm. Dad tacked stuff like that up in the shop. There was even a horn he thought was Buffalo. Thank you for the memories Mr Kongable.

Thanks for sharing. The handle is do beautiful. I would like to share some tips from the Metallurgy course for however wants to replicate what you did: - Make sure that grinding doesn't heat it up to any critical temperature. This would soften the axe. We used to cool the drill bit by dipping it in water literally after each sharpening stroke on the bench grinding. This way we make sure it stays cool and doesn't soften due to cooling after reaching a "wrong" high temperature. Another option is to heat treat the axe again to harden it and then heat treat it for tempering. Hardening will make it brittle, so tempering removes a bit of that and keeps it hard but not brittle. It is a challenging task, but worth learning and practicing. Have a wonderful day! :)
