In this video I restore a Matchbox No 70 Grit Spreading Truck that was sent in by a Subscriber who said it was buried in his back yard for 35+ years. This restoration is much different than restorations I have done in the past.

Agreed on all counts. I'm tolerant of production standards that are "less than", since it's really about the castings, but I so appreciate the shows where the standards are "greater than" ... like this one!

i I kinda agree with you because when you restore it you essentially make a new car and you can’t even tell it’s old. so I would want to keep it all original.

I’m lost for words. Incredible transformation! I know from message boards that some restorers ask about soldering and why it doesn’t work. Your method to first plate the part in copper solves that issue. Then zinc plating it and polishing restores the shiny silvery finish. I have quite a few of these models to restore and while some have intact sliding panels, several are damaged. I considered resin casting (my current method in making replacement parts) but sheet brass, plated, is something I will be looking into. It is a superb transfigurement of a model ravaged by time and oxidation.
