What a great choice to blow out that transom. There was nothing there. She's worth the work. What a beauty. Looks like a huge job removing all that wood.

I was in same predicament with my horizon jet boat, can't get marine ply in so cal and coosa board shipping was stupid money. So I fixed my delaminating floor with hardwood ply knowing I'll have to do it again.

The part where you say”Oh my god, there are even more Ants down here...” are those stringers that are glassed in along the tunnel edges? If so, those are obviously toast also. And if they are, replacing those with some proper knees forming up into the transom will go along way. Hoping you can find some coosa and can’t wait to see how it comes together.
@ADDvanced3 жыл бұрын
Nope, those are cutouts in the tunnels, making the pad really really narrow.

maibe just take a look at some of the insulation foam that is available nearby , and see if there resistant to acethone , they make surfboards out of that stuff (think its the bleu foamboard) but they might use a secial type of resin that doesnt dissolve the stuff ) if youre going to use that stuff for the transom you probably need to add layers of carbon and embed blocks of hardwood on the parts that get clamped (like the outboard mounting clamps ) it will make it eazier to push the foam ontoo and over the ragged edges of the old fiberglass can probably fill some with resin and push the stuff in there untill it oozes out for the perfect fit without airgaps for the center spine it would probably be a good idea to make a sandwich foam spine with multiple carbon fiber strips along the total length set intoo the spine vertically to make it resistant to bending and flexing if you use foamboard for the transom insert some hardwood blocks in there on the points that get clamped on (where the outboard mounts on the transom both the clamps and the bolts ) the hardwood is way more resistant to rotting out i think the crossbeam thats mounted across the transom on the inside can be made with the same carbon fiber sandwich idea and can be made twice as wide (sticking intoo the boat) for added rigidity maibe bond that piece to the outside fiberglass from the back and then put the under and topside foam in and fiberglass over that again will make glassing in the underside part a bit tricky (seeing wat youre doing under there working upside down )
