There's just something so satisfying about watching you sand blast. Taking a piece of scrap and making it look like it just came from the factory. The only thing that comes close is watching someone power wash a deck, driveway, brick wall or stucco (and I still love the kids "yeah"). I look forward to your vids. Good work!

i really like how this channel doesn't edit the sandblasting footage other than speeding it up. pretty much everyone else skips large portions of it to the point i dread the part it inevitably gets cut short for no reason. this channel also has some of the clearest blasting footage as well. what happened to applying and sanding the body filler part?
@TRGRESTORATIONS3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah the body filler part would have been a good segment... if I had bothered to hit the record button 🤦🏼♂️

I wish you had tried to retro-bright that original windshield for a goof. Maybe you could to a special called “Will It Retro-Bright” and tried a bunch of random things.

Dumb question: Once you've finished restoring them, do you keep them, sell them or donate them to deserving kids? You must have a huge display room for these babies...
@TRGRESTORATIONS3 жыл бұрын
Some I sell, Some I keep or give to my kids. Just depends.

I agree with Kevin Baker’s comments. Watching Chip Channel, Joe’s DIY, and your channel are completely satisfying. The transformation and your workmanship is excellent. YT is filled with so much BS garbage these days, but the above mentioned channels bring a smile to this old man! Thank you.
@bryanpowell37243 жыл бұрын
TRG Restoration knows how to successfully tell the story and keep the viewer interested. Chip Channel shows an hour of excruciatingly raw footage that you have to watch at 2x to see a moderately interesting restoration unfold, and then it still drags along. TRG keeps the viewer wanting more instead of making them constantly hit the FF button.
@TRGRESTORATIONS3 жыл бұрын
Awesome, thank you!

Wow! I found your page after looking at something on Reddit about another video channel on candles. Are you the same dude who had a candle page and Etsy? Well if you are a lot of folks miss you. I just found it tonite trying to see how I can make big candles to sell during the holidays. Thanks if you are that dude. I am not into miniature old cars but you did a good job. I see why Tonka don’t make them in plastic now. I saw too many of them when I will worked at Walmart in the kids department 2 years ago.
@Wulfdon3 жыл бұрын
Since the driver's compartment was empty anyway, perhaps just painting the "glass" a gloss black might have worked as well as replacing it? Not chronologically accurate, but it might have looked like impressive window tint. Just a thought.

Hello. I was wondering if you would restore someone vintage toy if they sent one to you. I have a massive doepke fire truck that's in really good condition but would like to get it repainted and a few other things. There's a few rust spots on it but other than that it's almost brand new!

In about 1977, I had the successor toy -- a truck with a horse trailer attachment. It was very similar in shape, but it had a clear plastic cover over the trailer. I do not remember if there was a stall divider, but it did include two plastic horses.

Does the rust and paint contaminate the sand in the sand blaster to the point where you have to replace the sand? If so, how often?

It can contaminate the media eventually, but the media breaks down long before that will happen. Mine usually lasts about 2 months
