My 2000 RD1 suffers from crusty trim, I'll try this. I'm finally working on the cosmetics since the vehicle has practically been rebuilt, thanks to many of your videos. It runs like a champ.

Last month, I restored my 1999 Cr-v trim and bumpers by scuffing the plastic with Scotch brite red , wiped it down with windex then rolled Rustoleum gloss black. Great results. For the headlights, I used Mothers mag polish applied with a Mr. Clean Magic eraser. Sealed clarity with a 3M clear coat wet nap. Follow up every couple of weeks with Maguires plastic polish. I live in an apartment building so spray painting in the parking lot is absolutely out of the question. If I could slow down the rust on Cr-v but otherwise, the 99 turned out to be fun to drive after major mechanical reconditioning which took me almost one year to get this up to good shape.

Awesome! How'd the roll on work?
@robertdiehl90037 ай бұрын
Roll on paint is super easy, quick and no mess at all using 4" roller from home depot. I live 4 miles outside of Manhattan, My where bumpers are always getting bumped into so yes- touch up are a breeze being that paint is sold in qt size can....

I’ll tell you when I use on my CRV to keep the black looking beautiful, boiled, linseed oil, put it on, then go back five minutes later and wipe it off,last six months to a year

I use the heat gun, but then clear coat it. Then it stays

Appreciate this a lot. On my old CRV for the headlight covers I tried "GOOF OFF Pro Strength Remover" and it actually dissolved the plastic and wiped down, while still wet, then dried in a minute or so to crystal clear. Must use a lot relatively and keep it wet allover to dissolve evenly or I get streaks and dry spots. Don't know how long it will last but it is not a coating that can deteriorate over time. We'll see how long it will last. Just FYI.

brilliant, actually just the info I needed. I was going to grab a new bumper because an accident left it lightly scratched up. aging lightened the color too. I might try this out instead and call it a day

I found this video looking for a how-to remove the bumper. I bought my 2000 automatic RD2 (wish I’d found a manual RD1) recently with damage to the bumper and rear. Any advice on what to do about a slightly-dinged-into-the-door spare tire? Door opens and seals well (that I can tell), spare tire cover is just a tad hard to slide in and out on the bottom.

I need your opinion for my 97 crv. My trims are crusty white. The oem paint is gray like in this video. I was thinking with going with black. What’s your thoughts on it

How'd you cover and tape the door to do the trim? I was thinking of laying over a sheet of black plastic bag and cutting out the part over the trim, then taping the bag edges to the door. Thanks!

Hey, that’s on my checklist! Just finished sourcing some more 5 speed parts and I’m nearing the finish line. I know you said you’ve 5speed swapped these plenty of times. Just curious outside of pulling the key lock plug on the dash harness does everything else function well enough to run the Auto dash harness on a swap? I really want this to function as if it came from the factory as a 5 speed car I don’t want a bunch of wiring gremlins.
@hondaresource10 ай бұрын
I've actually never manual swapped one of these. I've done many civics and integras over the years.

Hey man ! I’ve been watching your videos on honda civics and they are very informative and straight forward.I need an urgent advice from you,I currently own a 2004 Honda civic Ex 4d sedan with 180,000miles on it,I bought it used at 176,500 miles on it and it is driving very well .I just checked my transmission fluid level today and it is below the two hash marks on the dip stick.Internet is blowing my mind when i search for tranny fluid change but i am confused if i should drain it and fill it up or just top it off with without draining it.What would you suggest would changing it with new fluid could damage the transmission?Please so help me.
