Guys I will appreciate if you can collaborate with the Kenyan government to plant trees in arid areas that are suffering from drought mostly in the northern region

Regenerating ecosystems is the best long-term and most sustainable solution. Once the ecosystems get going properly they start taking care of themselves without human supoort.

Shaffi makes an excellent point about jobs for the youths. I watched a short segment broadcast by Sky News UK. It was about how climate change, desertification, overgrazing by herders, farming practices by more settled Tribes has led to social conflict & a loss of livelihood, purpose & identity & internal displacement, resulting in the youths becoming/have become prime targets for recruitment by Al-Qaeda, Boko Haram, & the remnants of ISIL after the fall of their so-called Caliphate in North Africa. Climate change induced changing weather patterns have made everything so much worse via drought. The USA has military presence in the region to try to assist regional governments with national security & terrorism deterence. But following on from Shaffi's point & looking at what went wrong in Afghanistan, I can't help but conclude that it would have been far more cost effective, quicker, longer lasting & stood a far, far better chance of sticking, if they'd concentrated on creating jobs in agriforestry, regenerative agricultural practices & environmental restoration projects. By giving people an opportunity to become self-sufficient/reliant they don't find themselves in distressed situations anywhere near as often, therefore stand to become far less susceptible to disillusionment, disaffection & recruitment by dissident groups. Perhaps The Eden Project might seek to partner with governments who have military presence in areas of climate change driven conflict/terrorism for match funding to support your work as a means of meeting military, climate change & poverty alleviation objectives?

"Terrorism deterrence" Yes, bombing entire nations to fight a "threat" they created themselves. Maybe the deliberate destabilization of the Middle East and North Africa to support US interest is to blame for the chaos, violence and deprivation which leads people to support groups like Al Queda. And that's not even mentioning those groups directly trained, funded and armed by the CIA such as the Mujahideen, who later became the Taliban. Yes climate change is a problem and food insecurity does make people much more susceptible to extremist groups. But let's not pretend America is there out of charity, or that they aren't the root cause of so much issues plagueing the region.

@@mynamejeff3545 Not trying to pretend anything or argue the politics of it either; merely looking at one aspect so no need to get your knickers all in a twist & yell at me. 😒
