For a car with that low mileage it definitely was abused. It looks like it has more like 130k miles. It’s sad people buy these beautiful cars and trash them. Fortunately it’s in the hands now of someone who will fix it properly and will maintain it much better than the original owner did !

Cool... I'd reinstall the air system without hooking it up... IMHO...

I have no room for something that large. Even the small Harbor Freight one is too big.

Hello Chris, my humble opinion: if this car was mine, I would NOT delete the AIR pump system. Why? Because this car needs to be as original as possible, because it is so rare and unique. A serious buyer will check EVERY detail on this car on its originality and will pay top dollar if the car has all the specs that came from the Callaway factory. But again: just my humble opinion....

I'll give you a tip. When I'm outside doing something like that. I get a large or medium cardboard box and lay it flat on the ground. That way it will absorb the cleaner and the part has something kind of soft to lay on. I have a big stack of cardboard boxes I use. Like say if I need to pull a seat, I'll just lay it on a piece of cardboard.

You are so detailed and meticulous it would drive you nuts knowing that you deleted the air pump leaving the car not looking in factory appearance. It's not important if it functions or not. Put it back on.

Yeah I'd leave them on, just for authenticity reasons. Looking good brother, every little step gets you closer!! Thumbs up video ~John

You are putting a lot of effort into the project. A labor of love for sure. When you get to the engine internals, I hope they will be in "reasonable" shape. BTW …reinstall the air pump even if you "gut" it. Keeps it looking original.

Voting for non functional air pump just for the looks.

If you sale it to someone who lives in California. You will need to have the air pump connected so that it will pass smog. I would connect the air pump back up. You have a great day.

Leave all the air pump off the car! But keep the parts in the bag.

Been a while since I took my air pump off but I think the pipe you said is not connected to anything is the air inlet to the pump, that end does not connect to anything

Did you do a Carfax to make sure someone didn't replace the odomoter with a lower mileage one at some point?

I would leave the stock parts on the vehicle. I’m not a fan of mods. My C4 had lettering stickers on the back bumper and I took them off asap. The closer these cars are to factory, the more I like them.

I’ve made an exception for the torqhead kit anyone who knows LT1s would surely love a car with no opti spark

@@colbykemball4181 true, the opti is problematic and a very poor design. I’ve been very lucky with my C4s in that regard.

Hey Chris. I have really been enjoying watching you work on this. I would put the air pump back on. I know the down pipe to the cat was deleted on those but the AIR system on that still during certain modes of operation injects air into the exhaust which affects O2 sensor operation. On these I am not sure how much it affects the drive ability but my memory fails me, it may set a check engine light. I would be interested in what Callaway says. Just my 2 cents.
@mycorvettelife
@mycorvettelife 2 жыл бұрын
All it does is introduces air to the exhaust to help ignite unburnt fuel in the exhaust. It has zero effect on how the engine runs.
@randallorr3730
@randallorr3730 2 жыл бұрын
@@mycorvettelife Is that what Callaway said? I know on the base engine it did not really affect the way it ran but it did have an affect on the O2 sensor reading due to programming of the ECM. It needed to see the oxygen content in the exhaust stream. All that it would do is turn on the check engine light. Of course it did affect emissions so they had to turn the check engine light. Apparently with the Callaway, the addition of the turbos and of course re-mapped programming made that protocol unnecessary.
@mycorvettelife
@mycorvettelife 2 жыл бұрын
The air is injected after the O2 sensor, so it has no effect.
