Nice work dude! Not bad for the first time. A little trick is to use alcohol and wipe the lens so you can get an idea what it will look like with clear coat and see any scratches you might have missed. You can also wet sand with the 2000 grit and then polish the lens to see if you can make it even smoother after the clear cures.

Not a bad effort overall, For me first time headlight restoration, I chose the 3m restoration kit for dry sanding, After many hours of reseach 3m takes the guess work out of which grit sizes to use!! Just look at the comments here?? The instructions are fool proof, All you need is a variable speed drill 1+2 gear settings and a certified clearcoat manufactured for heads only, No orange peel or cracking, I recommend Meguiars one coat drys in 5min's easy!! 🤔🇬🇧👍

I no what might help😁 you have used way too low wet and dry sandpaper thats caused the scratches if it was realy bad you i would have gone for 800 or 1200 then keep on sanding then 2000 grit till you get to 2500 gritt thats so fine all the scratches will disappear and your see a mirror finish then polish but if you want to lacquer after you have done the full proccess just key it up a bit so the lacquer got a key. To be honest i dont use laquer as you are ment to use uv laquer due to the heat hope this helps

I did the exact same procedure. Sanded my headlights down to 5000 grid sand paper. After that i applied two light coats of ceramics paint sealant. They look pristine now. (They were yellow(ish) before and are now as clear as it gets for 20 yo headlights)

@@adambutler48 Tbh it only really workd great after using the 5000 grit paper. Even the 2000 one didnt look as shiny, there always were clearly visible scratches on the end result, so i just went two steps further, using the 3000 grit one and then the 5000 grit. Worked out nicely, saved me roughly 600 bucks per headlight haha. Ty for the video ^^

Shouldn't you polish it before applying the clear coat? That is how I restore my headlights and it looks crystal clear.

They aren’t deep scratches. It’s where the clear coat cracked because it’s too cold outside
