Wow, that's beautiful! Are we going to see some metalworking now? 😉 I really am jealous, I've been banging my metal against rocks and concrete for a while now...I need one of those!!
@dekeros-recreationalwoodwo64566 жыл бұрын
Thanks! :-) haha. And I'm jealous of your pressure cooker and forge, but I will not trade :-) This anvil is now mine! No, not any metal work... not for a long time. I was a little unsure if I was going to put this up here. But if I like it, I post it! ;-) Take care!

Hey! Now that’s an idea. I’ll fire up the old ‘forge’ and melt down about 20,000 cans and make my own aluminum anvil. 😂

How long did it take?
@dekeros-recreationalwoodwo64566 жыл бұрын
Hey there friend! Hope all is well at your end! Well... It took way too long time. With a disc grinder I could have made it in a couple of hours, but I didn't want to take too much metal off. Also... I had something to look forward to. During a month I must have sanded that about 8+ hours or so... :-)
@MadebyMagnus6 жыл бұрын
I agree, there's a certain good feeling to bring a piece back to it's former glory. You really captured that feeling with the video, great job! By the way, is it a piece of a railroad track?
@dekeros-recreationalwoodwo64566 жыл бұрын
Thank you my friend! After posting this here I get a many comments about this being a railroad track. I have checked it up - and yes - it is! I didn't know this at first. :-) And I have to ask you - is this a common thing to do in Sweden too? I have not seen it before. I have not heard about it before either... This was left by the previous owners of our house, and they were from Germany. So I think it heritage from there. :-)
@MadebyMagnus6 жыл бұрын
@@dekeros-recreationalwoodwo6456 I have no idea if it's common, but I have hade some plans to build one myself. Maybe I'll come around to that in the future... 😉

Nice hunk of track! Did you make it?
@dekeros-recreationalwoodwo64566 жыл бұрын
Thanks buddy! It really is. No, I did not make it. I didn't really know this was a thing, making anvils from railroad track until I posted this. I got a lot of comments about this being made from a railroad track (I love Internet). I dont think this is common in Sweden to make these (please let me know otherwise if anyone from Sweden is watching :-) ). I had a lot of comments referring this to a railroad track, and I had to look into it. This is absolutly is a railroad track anvil! :-) I think its cool, because It was left from the owners, before the owners that we bought the house from. They were from Germany. And I'm very glad I didn't make any massive changes to it. I will treasure it for a life time now, knowing that someone else took a great deal of time making this long before I was around probably. Thanks for watching and commenting - big thanks!
@heyimamaker6 жыл бұрын
Very interesting, I wonder where the track came from then? What traveled over it, or who?
@dekeros-recreationalwoodwo64566 жыл бұрын
Yes! Thinking like that really makes me treasure this tool a lot.
