Your dad is a prince, strong appreciation for his skills. Keep at it, your a inspiration for all the rusty bugs out there that a lot of people would be willing to just throw away, I have a 71 super with a lot of the same problems so keep at it.

I always hung out in the garage or barn with my grandpa and dad .. I caught the fever of tinkering with anything that had any kind of horsepower ......Eastwood makes copper welding spoons and magnetic copper Butt-Weld backing plates ..inexpensive and helps with blowout prevention while welding that thin metal ( the weld doesn't stick to the copper ) Outstanding Progress ! 😇❤

I just replaced the channels on my 72 super and went thru a similar hell. Tip for removing the sound deadening, canadian tire "corded multi craft kit" with the smooth steel blade installed. Shaves 95% off super easy, and a wire wheel takes the remainder off in no time.

They got paint cans with the 2 foot flexible hose. You could go through the holes at the bottom of the heater channel from inside of the heater channel. Can you code it? The welding probably burned off of the pain on the inside, if there is any.

I would love to and ill try but the way the heater channel is designed .. the outer shell is the strength and the inner shell carries the heat... So the spot we welded on we wouldn't have access to. we would have access to the inner channel. But its a good point I'll see what I can do. !
