Why Latin? Because it's more powerful against the devil. It was one of the languages nailed to the cross. Latin is a beautiful language and the Latin Mass is beautiful. I think the reason why they want to take it away as soon as possible is because they're afraid people will fall in love with it, as I did!

We are praying for the restrictions on the Latin Mass to be lifted soon. We have been driving 2 hours each way for our diocesan Latin Mass each Sunday. Now we are moving across our state to be closer to this beautiful and holy Mass. And, also praying that once moved the diocese will still have their Latin Mass. May God hear our prayers and grant us our desires. Thank you for this video.

I am glad you enjoyed the video. I, too, pray that this beautiful celebration of the Mass will be easier to access. Perhaps it's just the optimist in me, but even during this trying time I have marked the beauty of the Mass as attested by how many like you are willing to travel far and wide for the Latin Mass. The restrictions have led to full pews since there are no choices in times or locations.

However, the video specifically questions the value of the restrictions on the Mass, rather than attempting to compare English and Latin to determine which is better. I do not (yet) see how restrictions on the language of a Mass will lead more souls to Heaven.

The restrictions have been the BEST thing ever for the TLM. Numbers have exploded. People thought it would restrict it but it has had the opposite effect. Thank you Francis! I attend the SSPX here in Portugal and our numbers are increasing. Young families etc. In our congregation we have several nationalities present and Latin unifies them all. Everyone knows the responses and sings the chant.

Good point re reading the missal and then understanding more than the local The Devil hates Latin. Latin is the official language of the Church. Latin is unity as you can vist a french latin mass, a Swedish Latin mass, a Japanese Latin mass and all the same. Latin is the mass saints have attended for centuries. Mysteries are part of God and the Church. I personally only do TLM today, as I have access to it. I can attend a Novus in Latin or in local language. Priests cannot free-play during Mass in Latin.

The Mass is not meant to be a Bible lesson where we cram in as much Scripture as possible. Scripture in the Mass is part of the prayer; it’s not didactic.

These restrictions have done more to drive a wedge into our church than any intended benefits. It is something we all need to pray on everyday. Vatican II emphasize the need to retain and respect traditional masses and it is hard to understand how we have come to this

If people want to understand what is being said in the traditional liturgy, buy a missal. They can read it in their own tongue in their own time. The Mass is first and foremost the representation of the crucifixion of Christ. Traditionally concelebrating Mass only takes place at ordination, with the newly ordained priests concelebrating with the officiating bishop.

Actually the new priests does not "concelebrate" at his ordination. The new priest receives wine from a chalice set off to the side, not the Blood of Christ consecrated at the altar. He follows the bishop as he offers Mass, a final teaching. The priests" first Mass is offered the next day. God bless and keep the faith.

Unity? Catholics used to be able to go to any church in the world celebrating the Roman rite and hear the same mass in the same language---Latin. Also, Gregorian chant is sung in Latin. If there is no Latin there is no authentic chant. It is no secret that the music used at the average Novus Ordo is absolutely atrocious. So what is this really all about? "Lex orandi, lex credendi."

Catholicism seems so bizarre and confused, going by these sites. All I find are people talking about Mary, tongues vs. hands, Latin vs. English, hatred of the pope, anger, strange saints, weird prophecies and signs and wonders, doomsday nonsense, obsession with sex and the devil, what a confused mess! Nobody ever talks about Jesus and his teaching: feeding the hungry, being peacemakers, not judging, not condemning, being merciful, loving one’s enemies, the hypocrisy and pride of religious leaders, etc. Are there any normal Catholic sites I can go to, or is this all there is? Sad!

One only has to read some of the comments here to demonstrate how the TLM has become an idol, and leads to rebellion against the Magisterium. Sedevacantism leading people away from God is being promoted in the TLM

My parish has a Traditional Latin, Spanish and English Mass on Sundays. It seems like the Latin Mass is a good indicator of reverence because this particular priest has kneeling for communion and communion on the tongue, no altar girls, etc., in both the TLM and Novus Ordo masses.

No. Vatican 2-both Vatican councils, actually-were collections of fallible men and they contain errors. The notion that councils that purport to be oecumenical are “infallible” is a modern one and is absurd. Similarly, we’ve had loads of bad popes, and we have one now. In recent centuries popes have usurped authority that does not belong to them.

This is an erroneous idea that Latin abracadabra is more sanctifying (and more scary for the devil) than the languages the people use everyday. During the Last Supper Jesus and the Apostles used Aramaic not Latin. When the Church initially grew around the Mediterranean, the Eucharist was celebrated in the people’s everyday languages alongside Aramaic, like Hebrew, Coptic, Syriac, Armenian, Greek, among many others. Latin began to be used as the language for the Eucharist for the people of the city of Rome and vicinity.

To be a heretic...... the person in question must have had a valid Christian baptism the person claims to still be a Christian the person publicly and obstinately denies or positively doubts a truth that the Catholic Church regards as revealed by God (through the Scriptures or Sacred tradition) the disbelief must be morally culpable, that is, there must be a refusal to accept what is known to be a doctrinal imperative.

If you honestly believe that the Latin Mass is the ideal of the western liturgy and that the pontiff is at odds with it then you should highly reconsider the principles offered at Vatican 1. I left communion with Rome after years in the Dominican order and supplicans was the final straw. It is abundantly clear that the modernists wish to destroy the faith with any means they can. They are separating the practice of the faith from its doctrines. Separating these two principles of Christian life makes us no more than hypocrites. The Latin Mass deserves to live as it is the liturgy of the west. The new rite is the rite of hypocrisy. None of these things that Vatican 2 mentions are retained, nor are they going to be. This is simply a dialectical mousetrap. We have irreformable dogmas being attacked by an infallible source. This, on its face, is defiant of right reason. It is simply Hegel in the church and the smoke of satan.

Well right from the beginning, the priest claims his views makes him a heretic, then he goes from there and completely ignores what the Church has said regarding the reason the Latin Mass is restricted. He then goes making claims without evidence, and somehow thinks the authority of the Church, needs to change to match his beliefs. A very Lutheran concept.

@@bettyhosler980 The very reason the Mass became Latin was because it was the secular common language of Pagan Rome. The reason it is being restricted is because of abuses the Latin Mass created, the idolization and lack of Charity among the Latin Mass onlyists. Typical examples are the generalizing that those who attend the TLM are more Holy, informed, or pleasing to God. The very authority of God is seen in the teaching authority of the Church. A priest who is at odds with decisions of the Church, are at odds with the very authority of Christ. Korah is a good example of claiming oneself as better knowledgeable than existing authority.
