Ty for the info on carni fall brood size, mine have had me concerned they seemed small.

Good video Randall. I agree with tearing down the queen cell. I had a hive try the same thing late in the year but I tore the cell down and they overwintered just fine but in late April they raised another queen cell trying to replaced her. April isn't a good time here in MN for finding drones so the new queen wasn't mated so I killed her and replaced her with a swarm cell from another hive. This last year I had a hive swarm in Sept. and she did get mated in late Sept. but with the brood break that was created they didn't have enough winter bees to survive a MN winter so they died in Jan. with a small ball of bees and a small patch of capped brood.
