Resurrecting Shorty - A Land Rover Restoration.
Shorty is a 1965 Series IIA Land Rover, which I have owned since 2004. A couple of years ago, Shorty failed her MoT on excessive chassis corrosion and subsequently sat in a field awaiting repair.
Towards the end of 2020 I got Shorty running again, drove her around to the workshop and began the task of repairing her.
Initially planning to only remove as much bodywork as was necessary to complete the repairs to the chassis and then work on Shorty as a rolling restoration, things have spiralled to the point that Shorty is now just a chassis with a rear axle attached.
In this episode, I am continuing the extensive repairs required to the chassis, this time at the front driver's corner, where significant corrosion was found. So there's yet more footage of the chassis being cut up, and new steel being welded in!

Another great video to watch. Love the fact it’s a chassis repair rather than a replacement. Thank you 😊

That is looking rather tasty. I have all this to do on my chassis so I'm watching with great interest.

Thank you. If I have any advice to offer, it’s this - tackle one bit at a time. If you think about how much there is to do it seems daunting, but breaking it down makes it more manageable. 👍🏻

Very much enjoying your videos. But am curious as to what welder are you using? Doesn't appear to have a gas shield.

It’s a Clarke, which can be used with or without gas. I use it gasless, although I’m not sure what you mean by a gas shield - the only visual difference between using it with or without gas is that there’s no bottle attached to it, otherwise it’s no different. Glad you’re enjoying the videos! 👍🏻

Have you tried your springs to see if the front hanger is back in the same place ?
