THIS EPISODE:
(1) Visiting the crypt of Donna Lepore of Downers Grove, Illinois. It was on June 7, 1985
that Donna's body was found by her husband in the bedroom of their Downers Grove home. She had been shot in the head. The crime occurred while her husband and their two children were out to dinner in the early evening. The front door was open, and no forced entry was evident.
Her murder remains unsolved.
(2) Searching and finding the unmarked grave of Mary Bregovy, AKA "Resurrection Mary". Mary is probably one of the most famous ghosts in Illinois, if not the United States. She haunts the Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, Illinois and is sometimes seen walking along the sidewalk of the Cemetery's Archer Avenue fence-line in and in other parts in that area.
Mary Bregovy was buried in her favorite orchid-colored dress and is believed to lie in an unmarked grave next to her parents Stefan (1885-1951) and Johanna Bregovy (1883-1945).
The Legend:
Mary Bregovy, a young Czech girl, was killed in a car accident in 1934 while going home from a dance at the O'Henry Ballroom, now the Willowbrook Ballroom (now completely torn down after a fire). Her ghost makes appearances all along the cemetery roads and at the Willowbrook Ballroom. She has been known to dance with men at the ballroom and ask them for a ride home only to disappear from their cars as they pass the cemetery. She been seen hitchhiking on the nearby roads by many creditable witnesses. A taxi cab driver saw a young girl walking one evening in 1979 and picked her up. The two of them were talking and driving but as the cab passed Resurrection Cemetery, the girl, (Mary), disappeared from the front seat of the cab.
_________________
Another person believed to be "Resurrection Mary" is Ona Norkus. But this is very unlikely because she was only 13 when she died. She wouldn’t have been dancing with older men and then asking to be driven home.
Another girl named Mary Miskowski could also be the ghost. She was a girl killed crossing the street on Halloween night 1930.
It is almost certain that Mary Bregovy was and is the ghost. She was the original woman named and is most likely Resurrection Mary. The others are add-ons and followers from other sectors of the area, from local people that all want to claim their‘s as her. Expect to see more of that.
THIS CHANNEL:
_________________________________________________________
The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.

We grew up on a reservation and the cemetery was right next door to our house, we lived with our grandparents,we didn’t have a play ground so we played in the cemetery. We never disturbed the graves but if one was showing signs of sinking we would get our grandma and she would tell one of the grave diggers and they would fix it .

I rewatched this one since I remembered the reference to Resurrection Mary in your walk in the rain on Sunday. It is amazing how I can wait about 3 to 5 months and rewatch your videos and it is just as interesting as the first time. The lawn maintenance has a few stones it needs to clear the grass off of before they disappear under the grass. Poor little Mary. The photo evidence of the black handprints and bent bars on the gate is really amazing. Those bars were really bent and had to be removed and the gate repainted. It wasn't just a legend. However, I do understand everyone in other places trying to gain some hype by telling a similar story so their town can have a spooky tale to tell. But that photo evidence is really spine tingling. Something happened.

when living in Chicago, I heard a story about a teenage girl, [I don't remember why she died], but she would appear hitch hiking near a cemetery [I don't remember which cemetery], and some teenage boys picked her up and dropped her off in front of her house. While they talked to her, in the car on the way to her house, they made a date with her for sometime in the near future, to go out and have fun, [movie or dance, etc.], and when they went to pick her up for the date, her mother answered the door, and told them that, her daughter had been dead for several years.

@@FacesoftheForgotten Hi, I forget the name of the cemetary in Midlothian, but long ago seen vids on it. That one is very haunted. My aunt died in 1/99 and was a nun. She is buried at Resurrection along with all the other nuns from her cloisture. I think that's the right word. Strange what happened that day. Our family is from Indiana, the NWest side. There was a blizzard a day or two before the funeral and we were told by the undertaker that there was no need for the family to drive the distance for the burial as the nuns from up north would be present. My aunt, Sister Lucidia, was always there for everyone's celebrations in life and death. I felt that someone from the family should have been present at the cemetary. I drove with a cousin and my son following the hearse and the funeral director tried to lose us and he did; he blew a yellow leaving us behind. I ended up driving the main streets vs. the expressway and when we got there we went to the main building to ask where the other nuns were from Bartlett and my aunt's gravesite. the undertaker lied to our family.........the nuns weren't supposed to be there. We missed the guy by 10 minutes. just a little info. But yes, the cemetary in Midlothian was done by ghost hunters. Take care, new sub here. Thanks

I have to share a story about the mausoleum. Went to high school a few miles from there and we had career day. The night watchman for the mausoleum came in and shared about his job. We were all more freaked out about him being there all night by himself but he said ‘No,No...I was never scared’. But he said there was one night as he headed back onto the elevator after making his round on that particular floor and he heard, clear as day, some one call his name...! True story. I grew up about 5 minutes from Resurrection Cemetery. A lot of people that saw her were leaving Chets Melody Lounge on Rt 171 or Archer Ave. late at night. I don’t know if the bar is still open, however they used to make a Bloody Mary every morning and leave it on the bar for her for years. The place she was at that night was most recently named Willowbrook Ballroom, burned down or demolished a few years.

Ella Maschhof, in the 1920 census, was a border in Chicago and a stenographer with the Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad. The census was taken January 7, around 20 days before her death. Her parents were from Germany and dad was a teacher. Ella died, according to Illinois records, in Algonquin, a Chicago suburb. The death date suggests Spanish flu. She had sibling Rosa, a year older. I'll research parents and siblings. Stay tuned.

@@FacesoftheForgotten The small worn marker to the left, with what appears to be lamb on top, is Ella's sister Clara. She died November 1, 1897 in Chicago. One source lists her birthday as October 28, 1896 while another states she died at 11 months, 3 days. Sister Rose was born in 1898 and married Irvin Carl Meyers on May 3, 1917. He was a bank teller in Aurora, Illinois. He remarried in 1933 suggesting Rose had died some time previously. Their son Roger Carl was born March 19, 1919 and died August 28, 1969 in Siskiyou, California. As for the girls' parents, mom Frieda died July 28, 1927. From The Chicago Tribune: "The latest blast of snow proved tragic for at least three people in Illinois, including a 5-year-old killed Friday afternoon after he apparently slipped on the ice and fell under the wheels of a school bus. According to police, Lawrence Roeske had just gotten off the bus with his 10-year-old brother, Chad, at 63rd Street and Springfield Avenue on Chicago's Southwest Side. Lawrence fell and slid under the bus, and before Chad could get the driver's attention, the bus began to drive away, police said." So very sad.....

The latest blast of snow proved tragic for at least three people in Illinois, including a 5-year-old killed Friday afternoon after he apparently slipped on the ice and fell under the wheels of a school bus. According to police, Lawrence Roeske had just gotten off the bus with his 10-year-old brother, Chad, at 63rd Street and Springfield Avenue on Chicago's Southwest Side. Lawrence fell and slid under the bus, and before Chad could get the driver's attention, the bus began to drive away, police said. Lawrence, of the 3900 block of West 63rd Place, was pronounced dead at 4:32 p.m. at Christ Hospital and Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. "We just feel something has to change with the bus service," said Linda Roeske, the boy's mother. "There's no excuse that a bus driver does not wait for a child to get to the sidewalk, especially when you drop him off in the middle of the street in piles of snow." The driver was charged with a hitting a pedestrian in the roadway, a misdemeanor, according to Police Sgt. Kay Lewis of the major accident investigation section. Chicago Tribune Feb. 27,1994

I’m amazed that Mary doesn’t have a grave stone…I’m sure she brings a lot of people to the area to investigate or pay respects…what a shame …maybe that’s why she walks..she doesn’t want to be forgotten🌷

Hi👋🙂 everybody has heard of resurrection Mary. I wonder how many versions are being told. Maybe she still wander because of the way she died. I loved how you began this video with that beautiful statue.much love was put into it. I got into ancestory research because of the many relatives I wanted to learn about. I knew my mothers grandfather maternal grandfather who helped raised her I was a child but remember him he was in his 70s then but was fortunately to know her fathers parents.her father was young joined the army. Even as a child I asked a million questions. I have a lot of obituaries from relatives i never met. That's why i keep them. Those my parents kept. When i go to a funeral i have a photo album i put them in write in info. Good way to research your family. I appreciate all of your videos. I watch as they come in. Some I'm just not getting to. Just know you are apperciated. The time you spend researching and I'm sure editing them so thank you 👍💯💯🤗👏🙏🦋🌠 be safe and take care. Love, respect and positivity always. I do talk a lot. But I'm learning.🙂. Neita james.

I really enjoy your videos. I am not sure if you've heard of geocaching, but many graves especially famous ones have a hidden geocache nearby that you can sign that you were there and add it to your total of finds and adventuress online in a personal account which is a great way to keep a memorial record of where you have been. Geocaches cannot I be buried, but rather are hidden away from graves in a respectable location sometimes with very creative containers. There are sometimes trade items in them, as well as a log book to sign that you were there. Wisconsin which is not far from you, had a whole series of cemetery caches to find different things, such as a tombstone that shows an occupation or a family who had 10 children, etc. I visit many Wisconsin cemeteries and found a lot of fun things and interesting stones. If you ever get up this way I would love to show you some of our most famous graves such as Les Paul and Chris Farley. I have a Geocache in a family plot called "one unknown man", which has one tree per person in the cemetery which is tiny and a rock that lists the buried people on there (including 3 children), and then the last person listed is "on unknown man". The local homeowner that owns the land says the house is haunted by the children that are in the cemetery. Geocaches are worldwide and I especially enjoy finding one's traveling. Thanks for your entertaining videos.
