Ret Paladin is an AMAZING Spec!

I speak for the average man/woman that works 40+ hours a week with social commitments. Ret paladin is a simple, explosive, very fun class to pick up and play. I don't need mega hard rotations that boggle the mind. Ret Pal allows me to button bash whilst looking at the screen and enjoying the game, whilst watching out for mechanics.

I'm going to dive in to a paladin just because of your comment. I'm returning to WoW after about 10 years and really enjoying my Shadow Priest, but really wanted to build a melee dps toon. I work 8-5 through the week, so I don't have a lot of time to dump in to learning rotations like Fury Warrior or Frost DK right now.

Just came back to the game and I started off as a warrior but it was just something about it I didn't like. About a week ago I decided to give the ret pally a go and oh boy, it's alot of fun! In my opinion the ret paladin is in a great spot in terms of fun and chill!

As someone who just swapped over from Enh to Ret in the last season I am having so much fun. I have never touched ret since I started in Wrath and always had a bias against the spec but man it feels amazing right now, super fast playstyle but a fairly simple rotation and insane survivability, the complete opposite of Enh which whilst I still love the playstyle just doesn't have the utility or defensives offered by a Pala. Going back to the start of an xpac stats probably wont feel great though lol

I started off as a holy paladin healer in Wrath of Lich King. Never played ret back then. Cataclysm I decided to heal as druid. Mist of Pandaria back to healing as a Holy Paladin. Then Warlords came and I hated that expansion and basically quit wow. Then BOOM legion and for the first time I decided to not heal and be a DPS main as Ret Paladin. I loved the artifact weapons and Ashes was so OP. Learned Mastery Build, Learned how to finally be competitive as a ret paladin in Mythic Raiding. Been playing ret since but swapped to Warlock for Dragonflight and honestly loved it. That said, I just finished leveling up my Paladin again and I think I'm going to go back to maining Paladin. I just love the versatility of being able to play DPS/Tank/Healer whenever I want.

Was a main pally decade and a half ago - had an ele shaman I would raid with, but the pally was for everything else. Ret pvp & prot were so much fun back then. Rerolled a pally in MOP remix and excited to take that character to TWW; i have a DK leveled along w/a shaman & lock, but truly think I will main the pally.

I was in the same boat but DK instead of warrior, just decided to pick one to level first and I don't think I'm looking back after picking Ret, it's just fun times without being something difficult and it doesn't need to be difficult, you could always jump to your warrior or demon hunter if it is too simple for your liking

As someone who is always working. This right here is my class! And I look at it this way, if they nerf ret pretty badly they would have to quickly tune it back to a comfy spot as it's our only spec lol. Where as classes with 2 or 3 dps specs, when one spec gets nerfed you have to switch to the one that got buffed, annoying. I have been there lol, so ret pally is a "Heaven" Sent class for me. :p

I've played Pally since they were available on Horde side. Mainly Ret the entire time and DF made Ret the best it has ever been. I raided all DF as ret, tried to switch multiple times to other classes but always came back to Ret as it just feels so good. I'm again debating switching to another class for TWW, thinking about Enhance but I'm sure I'll end up playing Ret again. Lol

He is either playing Prot Paladin or he has no idea what he is doing. Several of Ret Paladin's core abilities requires a Two-handed Weapon to be wielded. Blade of Justice, Final Verdict and Divine Storm all requires you to wield a Two-hand. If he uses a one-handed weapon, then he is not able to use his Holy Power on a damaging ability.

@@zachosgood7 I guess I had not really thought of Shield of Righteous as a Holy Power spender for Ret, since it requires a shield and is not Prot specific. Shield of Righteous is however intended for tanking. It is a low dmg frontal cleave that also gives and armor buff for a few seconds and he will not have access to Blade of Justice, which is a core holy power generating ability for Ret. I would say he could technically play it for open world casual content if he just wanted to for the fantasy of it, but I don't see it performing well at dealing damage, which is what the Ret spec is intended for.

Im just worried about continuing to main ret. I did so for the most part of DF and while it was super fun, theres just so far you can go with it performance wise (ort getting invited wise). Plus the fact that TWW will probably be even more swamped with rets than this expansion, you will just not be needed (especially after removing ret aura as well). So they nerfed self heal (pressing WoG literally doesnt do anything anymore), i dont like the change to Avenging Wrath (it lasts too short even if its numerically better or the same, it doesnt feel good to press WoA and only have a few globals of AW), the damage hits a hard ceiling fast, it will be oversaturated and brings no buffs raids care about (nobody uses BoP, freedom etc. in raids anyways lol). I prefer M+ at this point, but they went even harder with the "no single target damage while cleave specced for m+". And the AoE still isnt the best in the game. I guess thats always a problem for a trinity spec. It might be fun, but a game is only fun if you 1. get to play it by getting invited past 10-12+ and 2. not getting overtaken rapidly in damage on even skill level.

Because simple stuff is always the most fun. There is nothing better than watching sweats trying their hardest while I just chill and do 10 times more with no effort. This is a game after all. Literallt nobody cares what you play (unless they get humbled by your class, then they will complain that it's braindead)

Tthis early in the expansion, I’m totally thrown off by how slow my paladin is playing right now. Used to have like 48% haste and really enjoyed the play experience. Now blizzard has found a way to drop that all the way down to 13% or something. Fresh level 80. Totally thrown off by how slow the gameplay is right now. Not enjoying it a bit so far.

i use FR personally, ES requires you to keep attacking the target to build up the damage, FR is an AOE that just brings more pain to the enemy without the need to be overly bursty.

Buff Final Reckoning. If it's a choice for more boss damage vs aoe, it's fine, but as it stands, Exec Sent is likely more overall dmg as well afaik

Execution sentence is soooo boring final reckoning is much more fun blasting with light nuke but it's not currently recommended and I'm not a fan of radiant glory for some reason you don't get the feeling of "now I activate wings and become stronger" it just happens randomly :-D ret feels weird I liked season 3 light blaster much more than this
