Nice video Fred, PMR here in Finland , active with a lot of shops now use the 446 radios, had a film crew working at a house near me last week, even they were on 446, no digi service, just open TX, there back next week for a 7 day run, so will be listening, even the wife was interested , Finnish movie stars so she is happy to hear what happening😀

I've just found out something about this radio from another channel. The squelch settings are the wrong way around. In the computer software's squelch settings, "0" opens the squelch, but "1" makes the radio deaf, whilst "9" is the radio's most sensitive setting. I hope this information is useful to some of you.

That's a small one Fred. Amazing how they can pack a communications radio in such a small package. This would be a great unit for groups that may be hunting, hiking, camping etc... The programming option is pretty interactive Fred.

I wonder if the Baofeng programming cable will work?
@CB-RADIO-UK2 жыл бұрын
It looks the same. In theory it should. Mind you the genuine cable is only a few quid more and works with all the other Retevis PMR kenwood style radios.

Hi Fred, What a great little radio, tell me if the antenna is detachable and if the Baofeng bf-888s programming cable will fit. Many thanks for a great review. Keep them coming.

Hi Fred Ive bought the RB618 from Retevis. When I transmit from the boafeng pmr the RB618 receives OK but when I transmit from the RB618 the baofengs are not receiving it. Ive just downloaded the driver and software from Retevis. I was trying all day to reprogram the radio and to remove the pmr channels with the ctcss/DCS it came with using the usb lead provided by Retevis, its ONLY A CHARGER ha ha. I didn't install the usb driver either, Doh! In the end I used the baofeng programmable lead and chirp. I uploaded a saved pmr file for the Boafeng bf-888 radios. Sorry to be annoying. Its a good little radio from Retevis.
@CB-RADIO-UK2 жыл бұрын
HI Riz. Glad you got it sorted. The CTCSS codes have confused a few people with Baofengs.

It annoys me when companies call them "privacy codes". They don't offer any privacy whatsoever. It's very misleading for people who don't know the technical details to understand how they work.

Hi Fred, is the PMR radios very popular in the UK. I'm guessing it's like our UHF radios here in Australia.

Hi Fred, hoping you can help ? I bought the three pack of these radio's, and there actually pretty good for the price. There fine for what I need them for. My problem, I need to change some settings, which I cant do in CHIRP, but cant find the software for these anywhere, most links are dead. Would you have a copy or point me in the direction of where I could download it from ? Thanks & great videos 🙂 Cheers Paul.
@CB-RADIO-UK2 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul. I checked and it looks like the radio has been dropped. I will drop them a line and see if i can get a software link for you.
