Very thorough, thanks! However, you've run into the same question I have: how do you turn OFF CTCSS (or for that matter, select between CTCSS and CDC)? If I have CTCSS turned on for receive (decode) then I won't hear e.g. a simplex transmission with no CTCSS tone. Surely there's a way to switch between the three modes, but the manual is terrible about this function.

Press the star button a couple times until the display says off, then confirm with the menu key.
