Lunchtime on market day. Retford has become a ghost town. It's a great video diary, especially compared to previous videos over the years when the town centre was jam packed on market days.

Interesting , I searched under Retford as part of my family history interest. It would have been useful to have a few more captions, re the oldest buildings. My ancestors are recorded as being ‘weavers at the mines’,… not quite sure what this means…..we’re they part of some industrial process,( like weaving ropes or some such ?) or handweavers ….but why ‘at the mines’ & where would those mines be, exactly ?

It's on the East Coast main line, (Edinburgh/Leeds/Hull to London). Just off the A1 too. Famed for centre for the Pilgrim Father's.

Yes. I used to live there. At kings park. There's a free water park and park. It's open 24. There's also a canal u can swim in ( don't recommend) they often have pantamimes.
