I have drier skin. So, I usually have to use retinol every other day instead. Or, use HA serum or moisturizer right after. But when I’m in a tropical country, I don’t skip it since the sun damage might be intense.

@@winim01 Well for me I can say it worked, at least a little. First thing, pretty much all my acne scars dissapeared, so there's that. As for the wrinkles, it's not magic, they are still here, but I feel like new ones appear less frequently and my skin retains more moisture, so it makes them less visible. Also when I have a pimple, it's here for a shorter amount of time before it heals, so it's another good point. Overall I can say I'm satisfied. Although I do warn you, if you're going to start, when they say do it gradually, it's real, and be careful if you switch products : at one point I switched from retinol in a cream to retinol in an oil, and it "burned" my skin a little, even if I was already used to the previous product. Because it's easier to fuck up the dosage with an oil, it looks like there's not much but in fact there is... so be careful (I was scared to have damaged my skin forever, but no hard problems, it healed in a week with a super moisterising cream, but I couldn't put makeup on, my skin was so dry it was umbearable lol)

@@dedo2401 Kinda the same as last year. I did a big pause in the summer cause retinol doesn't go well with the sun (and where I live we have an extra sunny and hot summer from june to mid october). I'm now again in the process of adding a little more retinol day by day cause when you do a pause like that, the skin "forgets" lol. But the process is quicker than last year

I will turn 21 this July and I started using The Ordinary Retinol 0.5% in Squalane like 7 days ago. I am surprised that u said one should only use it twice a week especially for beginners. I've been applying it everyday since I got it last week. However, my skin has no complication tho. No irritation too. Also no overdry. I believe the product I bought is original too because I bought it from an official store. Besides, it is also the only product I use at night. I use sunscreen only at day time. I am guy btw.

Dr ingky, you are the best and my favourite doctor. Retinol is one of my favourite skincare products. I am oily skin, and I break out sometimes; but since I started using retinol, my skin change; before I use retinol, I apply hyaluronic acid from inkey. Then I apply retinol followed by a heavy moisturizer from Eucerin. When I wake up every morning, my skin feels like a baby 👶 and glowing like sunshine ☀️.

Hi! not a derm 1. You can use them but don't mix the retinol with anything just to decrease irritation 2. Technically yes, but I don't recommend to use AHA/BHA in the morning but you can use AHA /BHA in another day 3. Anything, just make sure it is well absorbed before applying anything else

1. Niacinamide and retinol can safely be mixed. Please use low strength niacinamide first and then a low strength retinol afterwards. However please stop if skin irriration occurs. 2. Yes you can split your AHA/BHA/PHA in the morning and retinol at night. It is actually highly recommended to do it this way. 3. You can apply a layer of vaseline on your skin to achieve something known as slugging for better skin.

Hi Dr Ingky, thanks for the video. I have been using retinol for 2 month and I am oily skin. I used it at night by itself and wakes up in the morning with very very oily face. If I use moisturiser after retinol, it is even more oily next morning. However, the effects of using retinol seem to be dryness. I wonder why I became more oily. Thanks

Oily skin is a sign of dehydration as well. It's like your skin is making an efort to compensate the lack of water through sebum secretion.

use lipbalm containing SPF 15 or above on am basis. the lips needs protection as well from uva and uvb like sunscreen does to the face. after using lip balm containing spf, exfoliate the lips by scrubbing 2/3 times per week. Hope it helps!! 😊
