I am in the process of liquidating my assets, may take a few months and selling my car, giving away other stuff I did not need here either.and moving to Siem Reap. I spent months watching videos from Kelly, the Aussie couple and a Cambodian US citizen, which I am ,that just returned there to retire. The US became unliveable because of greedflation

My tip number one. When renting for the first time never underestimate the cost of running a/c.

🙂💙👍Thank You Dave for some very Great Information. I live here in Canada and the cost of living is out of control the price of Apartments and Food is Crazy. I have never seen so many homeless people living in the streets in tents here in Canada.🙂💙👍

Thanks for the tips, Dave. I've only lived in Siem Reap a little over 2 months, but in that time, I've begun to see things differently. When I went shopping for an apartment, I thought I 'needed' a swimming pool and air conditioning. I found a studio apartment with both for $300 a month. Thing is, I've only used the pool a couple of times, and in the last week or so, I discovered I sleep better using just fans without the air con. (That may change when April and May roll around though.) So next time I go apartment hunting, those two things (or at least the pool) can drop off of my 'must have' list, and I'll probably save some money. When I lived in the U.S., I would have considered a cheap meal to be in the 6-7 dollar range. These days, I've made a game of finding new places to eat. I'll go wander the non-touristy areas of the city and pick some hole in the wall where the locals eat. You know you've found one of these when the menu is only in Khmer without any English. Lots of times I end up with a great meal for 2 or 3 dollars. There's a little cart nearby that sells num pang (a little baguette sandwich) for $0.60 that I'll have for lunch sometimes. In the past two months, I've probably eaten in at least 40+ different places, and I've only had 2-3 meals that were disappointing. Back in the States, I probably would have had at least a dozen 'meh' meals out of 40. When I see a place in the $5.00 range now, it seems slightly expensive.

I get a kick outve ethnic places here in 🇨🇦 that are charging big bucks but in those countries it would be under $10

I recently lost my job at the age of 45. In addition to having access to Tricare and VA healthcare, I also receive a 9K military pension. I'm thinking of selling or renting my house and moving overseas with my cash, assets, and 401(k). What are some good passive income opportunities?

Consulting a financial advisor is a logical step at this point, but postponing retirement could be a wiser decision

I'm wondering if I should merge all of my investing accounts into one. How should I proceed and are there any repercussions I should be aware of if I decide to do this? In addition, I plan to sell my property, which could result in an additional 200K over time. Is it better to diversify over a few different industries or combine everything into one investing account?

These are crucial questions for a financial planner. I met mine at a NYSE summit, and with her help, my wife and I reallocated our $1.7M portfolio between a traditional IRA and a brokerage account. She’s been making investments with our approval and has helped us recover twice our losses. We’re holding steady and carefully navigating more markets

Hey Dave! New to your channel and really enjoy it. One question - how secure is the wifi there generally? What's the best tip to prevent (as much as possible) having personal ID hacked? Thanks! :) :)

Can one use the data on their phone on a laptop?
@bushputzАй бұрын
You can use your phone as a hotspot. Then create a network with a secure password and connect your laptop to that network.
@anthonycoleman1909Ай бұрын
Other option is just use a cable between phone and laptop, but as with Bushputz idea they are both very easy to do and then you are not relying on free wifi.

Hey Dave What about medicines in Cambodia? Have high blood pressure and diabetes as well as problems with gallstones sometimes, are there pharmacies that can supply such medicine? Best regards, Peter
@anthonycoleman1909Ай бұрын
Hi Peter, I live in Siem Reap about 10 days a month for work. You can get most medicines especially diabetes like metformin by simply walking into a pharmacy and asking. You do not need a script. And the pharmacies/drug stores are on just about every corner, I am not joking. You may end up with a generic brand though. Best to take an extra week supply if going for a holiday. But when you get there, take your list to a pharmacy and see what they have.
@jimellis1810Ай бұрын
You can get high blood pressure medicine at any pharmacy here without prescription for much lower prices than any Western country. My roommate was prescribed 15 Mg of Lisinopril per day in the USA. It costs $5 for 100 5 Mg tablets at the pharmacy she uses here. It’s even cheaper if you select a generic from India.

@@Amanda_downunder My first trip in Feb. of 2001 from the cold winter in N. IL. to PP was a 100 degree F difference. The humidity was high, but I loved it. Main thing is to wear a broad brimmed hat, baggy clothes and long sleeves and drink lots of bottled water. A fan works great to cool off. Take it easy, enjoy the culture, the food and most of all the joy of the Khmer. Lord willing, I'll be making my 15 trip there next April. I support landmine survivors there.

It’s not the temperature , it’s the humidity. Right now it’s very pleasant on both temperature and humidity. The month of April is usually the worst.

@@wisconsinchristian - thanks for sharing your thoughts / experiences. How long do u stay when u are in Cambodia ?
@wisconsinchristianАй бұрын
@@Amanda_downunder When I was volunteering and building machines and septic systems, I would be there about three-five months. Time fly's. Now that I am much older and have a house, I just go for three weeks, time still fly's. Everyone should go to Cambodia and stay a while, the people changed my life for the better. I was self-employed in the construction field, that is why I could take extended leave. Now I am retired, but I have to pay $20/day to have a person take care of my dog when I am gone. Adds up.

❤👍💪🙏👌✌🍻 A minimalist mindset and a frugal lifestyle seems wise - at least in the beginning - so as to establish an idea of what things cost that you require (!) and not desire ? --- Often for many people a want and a need are not accurately identified ! 🙏🤏🤞
