Its interesting how we like to apportion all the blame to one strata of social actors. The truth is, ordinary average people working in various jobs are using their positions to extort money from their fellow citizens. Its a systemic societal problem. From university registration clerks to lecturers.... wanting bribes for admissions or grades.. Traffic wardens... want bribe to let cars pass. Bank loan officer... wants a bribe before approving a legitimate loan. Market touts and area boys... want a pay off "tax" before you enter the market or cross the road The girl a guy wants to date must first collect something before giving her attention... Even churches want payment for prayers... Straight forward job application is a myth....you must someone who knows someone... No business contract without paying a cut or having a godfather. My point is simple corruption is a general social plague that just gets worse as people become more powerful. Beyond politicians we must all examine ourselves and the seemingly "small" ways we contribute to corruption everyday.

I’ve always heard and known about this terrifying atrocious situation. Every time I think about it, I’m terrified and groan in sheer despair. When you are old, you become utterly helpless and desperately vulnerable. Access to pension benefits should be one of the only major shields against such danger. It’s inhuman for any person to take that away from an old person. And a government that presides over such inhumanity is the worst ever. Nigeria leads on this scene, again. What a shame!

What I find shocking is that it appears as though a man can get 10 children and walk away from his wife and small children, and be free of obligations like child support. I don't know what the law stipulates, but from viewing broadcast from TB Josha's, Emmanuel TV, I saw this issue occuring over and over again, and it seemed to me that Nigera has not addressed this issue at a legal level. It gave me a dim view of the whole country. Am I wrong in concluding that no provision has been made for the support of children by absentee fathers?
@tapera863 жыл бұрын
@@Matira269 not just in Nigeria, but across Africa.I mean, when 75%+ of the population is 'self-employed', the government will spend more money tracking them down than recouping anything at all... Thankfully, "absentee fathers" are not a prevalent thing across Africa as compared to say, Black America.Two-person households are by-and-large still intact...and moreso, there's a solid extended-family support system across many Black African families.So, it's not unusual for one to look after his/her brother's children (so-called black tax)... The Nigerian, indeed African problem is an economy largely dependent on primary resource exports and minimum value addition (where the jobs and tax revenues are generated!)
