I’m a few years older than you folks but I ate the same terrible foods growing up, however as kids we didn’t have a choice, we ate what my Mom had-canned soup, cold cuts, lots of fried potatoes and chicken, hot dogs, potato chips, and later in college came the fast food. OMG tons of it. I recall playing basketball at the gym for 3-4 hours then getting a Big Mac, a Quarter Pounder, fries and a hot apple pie for lunch. Fortunately in college I also read a little and took a health class and began incrementally changing my diet. Now both my wife and I eat healthier ( like you two) but there’s definitely room for improvement: Less wine, store cookies, cereals, gold fish crackers, and a few other things. Your video is encouraging and has provided some ideas.😊

Hey, in the context of not going cold turkey: make homemade chocolate chip cookies and then you can substitute half the sugar with unsweetened apple sauce Also add coconut and oats instead of some of the AP flour and about half the chocolate chips

Sounds great! I’m not the best baker but may give this a try. Right now I’m trying to have just a few each week as a treat.

BK once a month. Whopper with cheese, fries, chocolate shake. That's my out of the ordinary, every day cheat day and reminds of my youthful days. I know it's not good but, it's oh so good!!!

Everything in moderation. I grew up eating KFC at least once a week. I slowly weaned myself off completely and if I were to have it today I'm sure I would get sick to my stomach. It went from comfort food to uncomfortable food.

I make my own ice cream in my Little Oscar mini food processor. I will add 1 cup frozen organic fruit (berries, peaches or mangoes) pour 3/4 cup heavy whipping cream with 1 T honey. It tastes so good and you control the ingredients…unlike store bought which often have flavor additives.

Great video! I just finished reading The Great Cholesterol Myth and it was eye opening to see how sugar is the culprit, not fat (apart from trans fat and Omega6). The sugar council shutdown the studies that showed sugar was the issue 🤬 I love cooking dishes from The Mediterranean Dish on KZbin 👍

I eat grass fed red meat and butter daily and I feel great. I see it as our ancestral food, our genes completely adapted to it over 2 million years. Then home made L. Reuteri yoghurt with berries and wheat germ. Nattō, pumpkin seeds, walnut, hemp. Cod liver in own oil, a few herring. I avoid industrial food, seed oils, margerine, sugar, refined carbs, also many vegetables, all legumes and sweet fruit. I prepare my own electrolyte with potassium, magnesium, sodium, iodine, lithium. And then minerals and vitamins, omega 3 and recently glycine, taurine, NAC, nattokinase.

One thing I should mention. Protein is good but it’s better to stick to plant based protein rather animal protein because consuming too much animal protein will cause heart and cardiovascular disease and cancers and obesity. Not to say that eggs, fish, chicken, salmon, and dairy products are bad for you, just try to avoid it completely or consume less if possible. So many people are overweight these days just consuming the wrong type of foods because they aren’t educated on how to eat healthy.
