I retired from the Air Force, so I'm blessed to have the extra backup income. It definitely helps alleviate any extra stress concerning finances. Glad you get support from Canada!

That is so true, the closing of one door is always the opening of another. It is not necessarily easy of course but there is always a new thing starting

I have been a PD patient's caregiver, one of my favorite PD support group member's in our neurology clinic was an afflicted trial lawyer, as his dyskinesia( shaking tremors) became more pronounced he could not attend trial ,he was worried about his employment at a large law firm, his firm had a great idea to assign him to law library work which needed no set hours and of course his tremors would not matter, as if in front of a jury, he was delighted with his new position and worked for several years at night as a legal librarian attorney.

Hi Michael, thank you for sharing this great personal story. That is very generous and kind of the law firm to do for your close friend. It's nice to hear those kinds of stories.😊😁😃

You are so right, tomorrow is not guaranteed, I have retired twice before and I hated, but I had a choice to un-retire, but some of us don't have it. We also planned a different retirement, but with my wife's PD we were given a retirement that we did not choose or even talked about it.

Hi Rob, I get what you are saying. Life can be a bit of a roller coaster with twists and turns we don't expect. The key is to try and not be too bitter about it. Easier said than done sometimes. Thanks. 😊😁😃

I found this person's studies, ? L. Mischley and colleagues have conducted research suggesting that specific dietary choices can impact the progression of Parkinson's disease (PD). Based on their findings and other related studies, here’s an exhaustive list of foods to include and avoid for individuals with PD: Foods to Include Fruits and Vegetables: Berries (blueberries, strawberries) Dark leafy greens (spinach, kale) Cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, Brussels sprouts) Tomatoes Carrots Citrus fruits (oranges, lemons) Apples Grapes Healthy Fats: Olive oil Avocados Nuts (almonds, walnuts) Seeds (chia, flaxseeds) Fatty fish (salmon, sardines, mackerel) Whole Grains: Brown rice Quinoa Oats Whole wheat Legumes: Lentils Beans (black beans, kidney beans) Dairy and Alternatives: Low-fat dairy products (yogurt, milk) Plant-based milk alternatives (almond milk, soy milk) Lean Proteins: Chicken Turkey Tofu Eggs Herbs and Spices: Turmeric Ginger Cinnamon Beverages: Green tea Herbal teas Foods to Avoid High Saturated Fats: Red meat (beef, lamb) Processed meats (sausages, hot dogs) Full-fat dairy products (butter, cheese, cream) Refined Carbohydrates: White bread Pastries Sugary cereals Sugary Foods and Beverages: Sweets (candy, chocolate) Sugary drinks (soda, fruit juices with added sugar) Highly Processed Foods: Fast food Frozen meals Snack foods (chips, crackers) Foods High in Salt: Salty snacks Canned soups Processed foods Alcohol: Excessive alcohol consumption should be avoided. Additional Considerations Adequate Hydration: Ensure sufficient water intake. Fiber-Rich Foods: Include plenty of fiber to support digestive health. Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Prioritize sources like fish, flaxseeds, and walnuts. Mischley's research highlights that dietary choices can influence the quality of life and potentially slow the progression of Parkinson's disease. However, dietary changes should always be made in consultation with a healthcare professional or a registered dietitian.

For benefits of seeds such as flax, chia and hemp, a functional medical doctor told me to buy those seeds whole and then grind them oneself at home as we use them (better benefits and keeps them fresher)
