Hi Tom & Julie, now that's a can dump lol. Very interesting seeing the different types of rock in just that 1 mine, 1 minute it looked like it had some lead and the next you can see copper minerals. I love that tiny cabin, I guess it had everything you would need in it and I bet with the stove going it was a cosy place to be at night. Thank you for sharing, much love to you both. xx ❤

Tom & Julie, Good explore of an old and historic mine. The steep and rough terrain you hiked emphasizes the hard work involved in the development of this remote mine probably nearly a mile above the valley floor. The views are exhilarating. The miners didn't strike it rich, but they most likely found finer treasures. I hope you enjoy your Oregon stay. Good luck my friends.❤

I've watched about all of your videos a few times now and enjoyed them very much. Julie, every time Tom hold your hands up against something for size reference, can't jelp but notice how pretty your hands are. In one of your other videos, you were doing more of the camera work, and it was a nice change to listen to you narrate as you worked your way along. Tom made the comment that we would probably rather listen to Tom and watch you. I have to agree. It is much better watching you work your way along. You are the difference that sets your adventures apart from the other abandoned mine explorers. I don't know how many more seasons that Tom will be able to keep up with you but I'll always be looking forward to seeing your next adventure.

Hi Bill. Julie has beautiful hands. She could have been a hand model. Of course, we usually show them when she has been crawling around in a mine. I like to have her in front of me in the videos. It gives us some scale and something to look at. She has a pleasant voice, too. It takes some prodding to get her to speak on camera, though. We will not be mine exploring forever as it really takes a toll on the body. Thanks for your kind words! We certainly appreciate it!👍😊

Glad that you enjoyed the hike and views, Scott. It probably is bikeable as we found a road coming up from the south that almost connects to the upper trail by that wet drift. Thanks for the comment!👍🇺🇲🎆

Hey guys, Interesting as always. Do you think any of the mines y'all explored could be mined again ? Thanks for taking us a long. Y'all be careful and drink lots of water.
@TomandJulieMineExploring
@TomandJulieMineExploring Жыл бұрын
Hi Dianna. I'm sure that some of the mines we've seen hold valuable ore. Can they be successfully mined again? That is a more complicated question. Of course, you would have to find an area that is not controlled by an active mineral claim. Then you would have to find and remove the ore. Next, you need to crush and process the ore. None of these things are easy to do and may or may not be profitable. Some of the more successful miners I have seen in the last several years have been reprocessing mill tailings. Some of the old mills and procedures that were used back then only recovered 70% or less of the gold in the ore that was processed. At least with this type of operation, the hard work of removing the ore from the mine and crushing it has been done, and the tailings are in a huge pile outside of the mine. Bottom line is that mining is a lot of hard work and generally not a get rich quick scheme. Thanks for the comment!💰😁👍

What a very nice video and the great scenery, your both looking in shape for these rigorous adventures. Where do you find all this information on mine locations? Beautiful weather where you can see for miles. Do you also use high power binoculars for identifying the areas? Another great video of mine explorations! Stay safe and so glad Julie no more health issues! 😀

Thanks for the nice comment, Ron. Julie has been doing great and has no sign of cancer returning. We do a lot of research with maps, books, and word of mouth with other mine explorers to find locations. We also will drive around known mining areas and use binoculars to scope out interesting places. Did you know we visit an average of five mines for every one video that we make? Many mines just aren't very interesting or are caved in, etc. Thanks for the comment!👍😄

thank-you for the nice video. with gold prices as high as they are, would it be worth a persons time to take a second look at some of those waste rock piles and if so is it legal .
@TomandJulieMineExploring
@TomandJulieMineExploring Жыл бұрын
You're welcome, Tony. Some of the old mills only recovered 70% or less of the gold from the ore that was removed from the mines. So the rest ended up in the tailings. There also could be some in the waste rock piles. You would need to make sure that there is no active claim and that it's not private property in a particular area before removing anything from it. Let me say, though, that it is not easy work and takes a certain amount of equipment to actually recover any appreciable amount of gold. It can be a fun hobby, though, if you're not expecting to get rich overnight. Thanks for the comment!💰😁

Hi Daniel. This mine is in the Inyo Mountains, and the mountains in the distance are the mighty Sierra Nevada in the 10k to 14K elevation range at about 30 miles away across the Owens Valley. I hope that answers your question.🏔👍😊

@@TomandJulieMineExploring It makes me very sad abt. Pickles. But, to have her for 21 years really helps. Sorry I ask a lot of stupid questions,but would any of these mines be viable today..I think many of the gold mines closed because of ww2,and not because of no gold.
@TomandJulieMineExploring
@TomandJulieMineExploring Жыл бұрын
Hi Dan. There are definitely mines that are viable today, especially as a hobby. Most commercial gold mining today is open pit style moving huge amounts of material. The price of gold is good now, so that helps for small mines. In December of 1942, most gold mines closed to focus on strategic metals for the war effort. Many never opened again. Thanks for the comment!💰⛏️

How come you guys always pass up the orange paint on the walls you just walk by it like it’s not fair but it could be telling you , let me know what you think
@TomandJulieMineExploring
@TomandJulieMineExploring Жыл бұрын
Usually, the paint is put on by the surveyors and assessors to mark locations of various things. It could be where ore samples have been taken or where an ore vein starts or stops. They really don't mean much unless you have the corresponding information of what they are marking. Other times, it might be put on by exploring clubs who, for some reason, feel the need to paint arrows and other things so they don't get lost. Sometimes, it's just regular old vandal type tagging. That's very annoying to me. In any case, I don't think it enhances our videos to show it. I'll leave some in for you in a future video if I remember. Thanks for the question!👍😁
