I had a hunch he would be friendly and accessible. Though a star, he never a DIVO who put on airs or looked down on fans. You're lucky to have worked with him. I liked him not just because of his comedic talent because under the surface was a caring and sensitive soul who never lost his humility.

There is one very funny story of how Don Knotts joined the show. The producers wanted a "Don Knotts" type character and one said "why not get Don Knotts" none of them thought he would do the show. Don Knotts daughter was a huge fan the Three Company show and told him he should do it.

Not true, Ritter was playing a straight guy (so no need for the gay stereotype). But when pretending to be gay for Mr. Roper, he played up the stereotype (assuming that's what Mr. Roper would expect). The stars of the show were great, but the homophobic attitudes of the 70's were ever present.

I didn’t get all the jokes but I knew Ritter was hilarious. Hilarious then and hilarious now. Going on and on about how evolved and woke we are gets old and drains the humor and creativity out of life if we let it. It was different times but there’s nothing to be ashamed about threes company.

I wonder if John Ritter felt any symptoms that led to his untimely passing. True he was stricken without prior warning on the set of his show, rushed to the hospital, and died a few hours later. My 23 yr. old son and I are big fans of Threes Company. We are always talking about the fact that Jenilee Harrison was by far the most beautiful of all the girls that were ever on the show. We just don't understand why they would replace her after only one season!!! I disagree with the narrator on this video that she was too much like Crissy. Crissy was dumb. Cindy was clumsy. No disrespect to Pricilla Barnes, but she was no comparison in looks to Jenilee Harrison, Jenilee had a gorgeous figure too, which Barns couldn't hold a candle too. And Jenilee's character Cindy allowed for many funny physical gags, frequently allowing Ritter to show his physical comedy. Summers was good, Harrison was better, but I did not care as much for Barnes. My son and I complain about this every time we watch this show during the season that Jenilee was on it. We say: WHY WOULD THEY REPLACE HER!!!!!!! (I was hoping this video would have given a bit more insight as to why Harrison had to leave the show) In my opinion the Ropers were by far the best and funniest landlords. I guess if you had to find a replacement Don Knotts is about as good as you could get, and Furley was good, but the Ropers and their running gags were much funnier to me.

The narrator is wrong, Jack never marries Vicky, Vicky didn't want to get married because she was afraid it would end up in divorce like her parents. They ended up living above Jacks Bistro which the father bought the building from Angelino.

The 3 leads should have united together just like all of the leads from "Friends". You have more leverage as a group. That way they could have asked for the same salary and demands as a team. No way they would fire all 3 stars.

She got greedy, and she later tries to spin it as standing up for everyone which did not hold up. It's been well covered.

But the media of today - unduly influenced by "woke" and even "me too" movements - have incorrectly portrayed Suzanne as standing up for women as a whole (she demanded a hugh salary hike AND a share of syndication profits).

I like your video content. I, too am a child of the 80s and you put up a lot of nostalgic stuff I enjoy, but I'm sick to death of our childhood being apologized for because it's "problematic" today. Societal norms and what is politically correct are always changing. It's ridiculous to judge content from 40 years ago by today's standards. Any reasonable person knows the TV shows, movies, music, and pop culture was very different when we were kids, and should view it through that lens. If something is unacceptable by 2023 standards the viewer can choose to see it as documentation of how far we've come, or they can simply not watch it. So please, stop giving the disclaimer about it in your videos. It should go without saying when viewing anything from the past. We know better now and do not need to apologize for what was considered normal at the time any more than today's content creators will need to apologize for anything in 2063. Just my opinion.

@@Luke5100 Cute. I'm not over sensitive about anything. I didn't make this comment just from this video. I watched all his videos and after hearing the obligatory apology over and over I said something. He can take it or leave it, but no, I won't get over it. There were literally cartoons with characters in black face shown when we were kids. We've come a very long way since then. So, in keeping with this channel's 80s theme, I will ask you sir to bite me.

I've often wondered why Priscilla Barnes felt those were the three worst years of her life? Then you said she remained friends with Joyce DeWitt and Richard Kline. Does that imply she was having issues with John Ritter?

I remember how controversial the show was - the idea that a two single women and a single man could live together. For shame! LOL So tame by today's standards (or lack there of).

Suzanne: I wonder if she regrets her decision, I would have never trusted a man who had an affair while still being married and got someone else pregnant.

Don't forget Somers was on She's The Sheriff for four seasons before Step-By-Step. It always bothered me that neither Eleanor, Cindy or Janet's sister and parents (or the Ropers) appeared for the series finale.

Thank you for making this video. Three's Company is my favorite show of all-time. I own the series dvd, and watch it every couple years. I was 3 when it debuted, so I watched it later in its original run and later in syndication. I never saw the final episode until I bought the dvd set. I always felt that the show could have continued with Jack and Janet finally getting together. Their characters had a lot of little cute moments, when you could see the love they had for one another. Always felt the producers and writers missed an opportunity there. Rest in peace John and Suzanne. Thank you for the laughs and the great memories.
