Absolutely love your videos. I find you the most engaging gundog trainer on KZbin. It would be great to see a video on how to train a dog to "go back". That's something I've always struggled with!

Thank you Tom! Thats very kind of you. We’ll add “go back” to the list

Love it. So pleased when you said you want a good dog on a shoot but still lives in the house and can go for walks. I have the same ambition for my 5 month old sprocker.

So pleased I discovered your channel. Easy to follow steps that I can remember and am seeing the results with my springer. Love the format and directness. Thanks.

This video is great, my boy is five months now and he is just like Waffle, since I have only trained pointing breeds and they naturally cover the fields, I have been trying to work with getting him to start hunting the grounds with me but was'n't entirely sure how to go about it and what to expect. Now I know. Lots of baby steps. Thank you!

Extremely helpful as always. It is so easy to get bogged down in all the little problems, but you help bring out the common sense.

Always super helpful. Could you possibly do a video on how to fix a dog spitting a dummy/ball out.

Thanks very much. Morty, 6MO Springer will happily wait to be sent out to a retrieve, but then does a lap of honour. I’ll try the fence trick, but he probably needs more practice at home. I have been using a long lead for the last week, but after the retrieve it feels more like I am fishing in a 26lb beast. Some of the most useful advice I got from this is that it is a slow process and we are only looking for the right trajectory of progress, I think I sometimes expect too much of the young chap.

Love this series.... would be great to hear some thoughts on the months before proper training starts.. eg - 2-6 months - do we just let them be puppies at this point and not worry about training too much?

Loving your videos. I have a 9 month old show cocker and started implementing your training style and it's helping improve many aspects of training. Question: My dog will fetch indoors perfectly and without fail but outside he will not fetch at all anymore. Any suggestions on how to fix this so I can play fetch with him in the park?

Charlie you're my fav dog trainer on KZbin! Please please can you do a video on how to stop a dog excessively barking at other dogs? My 5 month old cocker spaniel won't stop barking when he sees other dogs. Kind regards, Rebecca

Great channel. Keep it up. Is Waffle your own pup or are you training him up for another owner? What game do you have in mind for his first hunt? My two year old pup is experiencing her first hunting season this fall and she is just bursting with joy.

Another great video Charlie. You’ve put my mind at rest regarding why my dog isn’t interested in retrieving when out. He’s doing well at retrieving when at home. Have you any tips on how to encourage him to retrieve when we’re out?

Hi Charlie. Super informative and useful content. I notice you never use treats in any of your training sessions. Do you not use it for training or is it only for video purposes? Hoping for your feedback, thank you.

Another good video Charlie. Were you not worried while having him hunt, he could flush a pheasant and be off after it? What would you do if that happened?

My Springer retrieves very good but drops the dummy in front of me, sometimes 2 feet in front of me. How can I train her to give it in my hand ?

Thanks Charlie. What techniques for getting something he's not supposed to have off him?

At 4:07 in the video you mention him being a dog that can live in the house and go for family walks - what are your thoughts on a working cocker purely as a family pet without or with minimal gun dog training? I'm keen on working cockers but my wife is worried about the training required. If we concentrated on the basics of good manners and good habits and kept the dog mentally stimulated, is there any reason why a working cocker wouldn't work as a family pet? I'm aware that for walks, would need to be kept on lead unless we are giving it our full attention.

When I got my Visla I was told not to give him a ball as it would encourage him to ‘Chomp’ on things including game. So I didn’t and he has a wonderfully soft mouth which I assumed was because I had avoided him ‘Chomping’. However, you use a ball as a training aid and I assume you have no issues with dogs ‘Chomping’ on game. Your thoughts please as I have just collected a 10 week old Cocker Spaniel.

Your videos are great. It would be really helpful if you could give us the age of the dog so your viewers can keep to your schedule.
@donaldtriumph1682 Жыл бұрын
Why do you think viewers can keep to Charlie’s schedule if you know the dogs age.. Surely you must realise that no two dogs are the same. You progress in accordance with your dog’s ability and understanding.
