Using the 8-Bit Guy's retro-bright submersion technique I've restored a vintage Apple Macintosh Plus computer to it's original colour. The key ingredients are: liquid hydrogen peroxide 10% (33 volume), sunlight, and warm water.

This method looks quite a bit easier than the other method I’ve seen used. Just throw things in a plastic container, wait a day, done!

Pretty much - and it's way more uniform as well

Nice informative video. So what is the ratio of water/peroxide?

Hi Bill - I used 30Vol (10%) hydrogen peroxide and I'd say it was about a 1:10 ratio with water. A few learnings - hot water helps speed things along - my bin eventually warmed up. As well, I found a really great and cheap source of high strength peroxide after I made this video - it can be found at most hydrophonic stores in 40% (wow!) liquid bottles.

Heh, from SSX to retro-computing😉. I merely kid. Tbh, I dig it, considering I'm a bit of a retro-computing nut myself. I only wish I had the space (or money, although for my personal interests a lot of the stuff I want isn't prohibitively expensive... yet) for any sort of collection though :( That'll have to wait until I move out though, lol

this is awesome! ironically, doing exactly the same thing with my plus.... but wanted to retro bright it! Get that peroxide at Costco? Looks like a familiar bottle ;)

I found a better source on high strength peroxide. Can be found a local hydrophonics store - usually in %30 bottles for really cheap.

Will this work on white push fit aircraft models? Got a few yellowed ones.

I think it probably will. Works on most yellowed plastics. Best would be to try it out on one.
