Haha yes! But thankfully my wife's mom owns the company, so I was able to finally negotiate after many arguments haha.

Thank you! I will for sure :) And I work for a bakery snacks company called Fukuido, with a second brand of Couture Fukuido Tokyo. We've got 4 Fukuido (cakes, old style snacks), and 3 courture fukuido Tokyo (modern snacks with a longer shelf life). Some stores still appear as "milestone" on Google though. I work in the kitchen at homebase helping make snacks for both stores. The company is 151 years old and currently owned by my mother in law. My wife will take over in a decade or so and I'll just do whatever job she gives me when that day comes haha

Awesome! I'm so glad the boarders are finally open. If you're in the big cities, look for super potato games. They're stores that are nothing but old games. Gameboys just hang on clips in bags because theres so many. You'll definitely find lots

Thanks so much. The algorithm is being good to me. For some reason it just started pushing my first retro game video, so I tried making another as an experiment, and they've been growing shockingly fast. Appreciate the support

I agree! I've visited the one in Osaka twice. It's incredible! The only place that had Pokemon card GB2 for gameboy. It was 200$, and I wish I jumped on it at the time

They definitely are awesome! Theres a road in Namba Osaka that has like a dozen small retro game stores like this. Next time I visit, I'll make a video. I took a holiday there in July and was too distracted with the place to make a video haha 🤣

Fun Video, I didn't expect there to be guitars at that shop. I imagine they are all in amazing condition as well :D. What is your level of Japanese? I am not sure if you've mentioned it in a previous video, but if that is something you're working on, that could be a fun video topic.
@frankieinjapan
@frankieinjapan 2 жыл бұрын
Me neither. I was happy to see guitars in shops like these. I want a Jackson though, but I still haven't come across one in Japan. And ehhh it's still pretty beginner.i want to go tolanguage school, but I don't have the time or money with work. A year is roughly 3-5k$. I just learn bits at a time from the wife and coworkers as I go.

How good is your Japanese? And how long did it take you to get to your level? And how essential is it to live in japan?
@frankieinjapan
@frankieinjapan Жыл бұрын
My Japanese is very poor haha. I know about 300 words, and can read hiragana/katakana, but that's about it. I want to go to school, but my mother in law won't give me the time off work to go 🤣 and it's not essential in big cities. There's English in busses, trains, stores, etc. But here in the countryside is tough. Thankfully my wife is fluent in both languages, so I would literally die without her haha

Have you played Pokemon black? Seeing you come across Pokemon games easily in these videos hurts I just recently purchased a Canadian copy of Pokemon Black due to it being one of the only games I don't think I ever played and ooo, boy, I just caved and got it because the price tag was just going up and up E for effort it was complete in box in great condition :')
@frankieinjapan
@frankieinjapan Жыл бұрын
Yes black and white are amazing! I don't buy the DS games because I got all Canadian copies from gen 4 and up from when I was there. In 2016, B/W were only 20$ each on eBay. Gen 1/3 were between 25$-50$. I wish I didn't slack on getting them because now prices are atrocious 😭 how much did you pay for yours?
@ViktorErikFade
@ViktorErikFade Жыл бұрын
@@frankieinjapan uh.....well .... I payed somewhere between $60-100 US bucks when shipping was factored in or something like that I don't want to admit to it often but literally it was sitting beside another eBay listings for no box copies for the same price - I was scared if I waited any longer it would be more expensive STILL HURTS paying above original price tag though 😭 But I can play it now Right before the eShop closed I got the card game digitally for cheap though . I could REALLY kick myself for not getting it back in the day when I took a "break from Pokemon " Like what was I thinking

Learning Japanese would only be a primary goal for me in the beginning because in the US manga prices are outrageous ! Hundreds of dollars for the 13th volume of trigun maximum. I went on dark horses digital manga store and just read it there instead . I really am enjoying these because there is a variety of things, I used to collect plushies and sometimes will get Pokemon ones still At the last con I went to I got day lyconroc and a sitting Jolteon for somewhat cheap
@frankieinjapan
@frankieinjapan Жыл бұрын
It's funny because on Amazon, Japanese manga goes for, like 4.50$ each, but the NA equivalent is always 15$ and up. It's stupid. Same material and everything 🤣 But otherwise I'm glad your enjoying them. And oh damn I haven't seen a lycanroc one yet I don't think 🤔
@ViktorErikFade
@ViktorErikFade Жыл бұрын
@@frankieinjapan right, I saw Italian versions of the manga being sold for cheaper too , it's just scalpers who half of them don't even know the series they are up charging too which also hurts. I know right ? Lyconroc is such a rare Pokemon to find a plush of, I REALLY hope I find a midnight lyconroc plush soon , I loved having one in game so it has personal nostalgia, also finding the shiny blue rockruff (forget how to spell it) Pokemon was very satisfying back when the game came out
