My break lasted longer than I intended, but I spent them time working on my writing and video editing skills, as well as having a think about the direction of the channel and what kinds of videos I want to make. I know you'll notice a big improvement in quality. Let me know what you think, and thanks again for watching!

I appreciate you for making this as a solo game dev also wanting to capture a retro feel from the ps2 era it makes me happy to see how people define retro in so many different ways just like the games we play

I recently got myself a Retro handheld device so i could tap back into so many aspects of video games that i have always loved. I wish i could figure out what retro indie games i could play on my Anbernic RG40xx V

Oh to add, fantastic taste in indies. Anodyne 1 and 2 are some of my favorite games of all times. Sephonie didnt quite hit it the same for me, I didn't like the platforming very much in that game and it felt too streamlined tbh. I hope their next game rocks as much as anodyne

I agree, loved Anodyne 1 and 2 (really need to do a video on those). I haven't played Sephonie myself, but from the trailers and other coverage didn't do much for me. Thank you!

I always dig these indie titles, just like my childhood favorites in the past. Even platformers and metroidvanias.

I hear ya. I used to dismiss these kinds of games, honestly. I always thought it'd be better to make something new and interesting, but the older I get, the more I yearn for these older, "outdated" type of experiences.

I need more PS2/Gamecube/Xbox era inspired games, especially hack n slash action games

I will say the retro indie games arent also incapable of hyperfocusing ona single genre. We've had an era of every indie games trying to be like dark souls and every indie game sbeing roguelikes. Im glad theyre diversifying a bit, especially since I've never been a fan of souls-like combat

Yeah, that's one thing I wish I talked about a little more in this video. Indie games in general are great at mixing genres and combining elements together, and that's what makes it so exciting. We're getting old games that stick to the classics, but we're also getting a lot that change things up and try a lot of new things while still "feeling" retro.

Hey what about pipsqeak which looks like a 2d metroidvania pixel art game

I haven't heard of that one! Looks pretty interesting, I'll keep it on my radar. Thanks for pointing it out!

video game is quite an young art form. Any chance that "retro" would be a cultural movement being established? just like arcadian, or barroque were, for art and literature? If that's the case, odds are that new movements should erupt instead of "retro" becoming "all-embracing".
