Me I am a Big Fan from Retro mtb Mongoose IBOC`s like the Comp SX from 1995 and 1996 have al so Pro SX from 1994. And had al so an 1993 Mongoose Amplifer . And know I am building a Mongoose IBOC Comp SX 1996 in Polished Alloy with Hope parts on it and Magura HS33 brakes. The hubs are White Industries But the fork is an Fox from the yaer 2006. I gone make the bike a Single speed. Nice to see in Australia mine bird place lived in Adelaide, but now in the Netherlands a long time. Nice Fantastic video........The Retro MTB are still alive around the World.....

I have to pause the video & say a big Thank You!!! for this great video. Definitely brought back lots of great memories of the 90's...those days were the best in Mountain Biking, Aggressive Street Skating, Electronic Dance Music, Fashion, Design...etc. I am currently rebuilding my dream bike: 1995 GT Zasker LE.

I am 51 years old now, and remember vividly all of those bikes, some of them are my dream bikes, even to this day, disappointed I never seen a Proflex 856, I had one of those.

It would certainly be interesting to see what the rear double fork suspension setup would be like with today's air forks on the back like on the Manni there! I was just watching the DH World Cup '99 came on a new video tonight. With all that racing, it was crazy to see just how different DH is today compared to what people my age and I raced in. We thought that was hard on those old bikes! Let me tell you, the difference on my new MTB long travel is that it is so much easier to descend and much more stable! I still have my old Giant ATX One and Two in the garage! My old pride and joys from my DH locals!

I had that Giant trails bike back in my teen days aswell ad the ATX with the Green Michelin tyres my Family worked in the local Michelin factory so got ne tyres for it every 6 month's! So glad Grip shift is a thing of the past now

Back in 1998 I think it was I bought my first mountain bike it was a GT arrowhead it was on the back of a parcel force lorry(I'm in england )it was destined to go to a local bike shop .I paid £20 for it. It was brand new . Then in 2004 I traded it in ,at the shop that the bike was meant to go to in the first place and they had no idea that it was one of there bikes that never turned up to the shop..I traded it against a Kona Dawg primo...which I still have today and was out riding it today ...

Lovely. My favourite era is definitely 90/96 before full squish became more popular. Fully rigid being absolutely the quintessential perfect all around bike and make for a great gravel bike.

I love that Manitou!! The Pace is amazing as well. I'm a sucker for polished aluminum. My PK Ripper has floval tubing kind of similar to the Pace. Some truly amazing bikes there. An interesting note is that I used to race mountain bikes out in Colorado back in the 1990's. On massive climbs the bars ends worked great. More leverage. Nowadays they have vanished haven't they? Great vid!

My dad still have a 1993 Marin Bob Cat Trail 3 n he said that I need to revive it since he's too old to ride outdoor (he's 77 now n still cycling on static bike). That bike has introduced me to mountain biking since I was in 7th grade.

I recall seeing my first mtb ever...it was 1985,I was 15 yrs old...I and EVERYBODY had bmx bikes ( except older people,they had skinny 10 speeds )... and so my friends and I are hanging out at the park,,,,some guy from school whom I knew of ,but wasnt a friend,just an acquaintance at most,,,rides up in this.....what looks like a bmx FRAME slightly longer,and these gigantic tires!!,,,I didnt give it much thought to ask him about it,,,and when we all rode off ,he was much faster then my friends and I,But he couldnt do tricks,,,I thought he either didnt know how to do bike tricks,,or the bike was to heavy with those big ass tires,,,and so he ended up going his way and my friends and I went another way....that was the first time I saw a mtb........and not untill I turned 22 years old did I get my first mtb,,,,,and that's all I've had since!!!,,,still do,,,,I'm 53 years old now,

Hey mate just been watching your show 2023 retro show nice work enjoyed it , I’m pretty sure I built that black DBR V10 the red sdg seat the carbon brake booster red sachs grip shit the troylee sticker and the manitou forks they didn’t come out with those they had the next model down .I worked at Mitcham cycles when it was down stairs at the shopping centre before it Burt down. I only sold it after I had a big crash on my DBR full response at willunga and wrote it off , built that one up and never used it sold it as new pretty much .

Christian , it may not be the same one as there are similar ones in the eastern states . You don't know it's full history nor would Nigel without exact dates. I followed retro owners in Sydney but have lost contact with many due to lifestyle changes .Nigel must have frequented this event exceot for Covid years . He would have made several acquaintances through it . I show a bicycle once and that is it as we want as much fresh input each year as possible to keep patrons attending . I showed wrestling merchandise at an exhibition in 2017 and it got good interest .

I know someone who owned a 1994 GT STS . After a show like this , it was found to have several scratches . They said , don't take any of your retro MTB'S to exhibitions . This was the time that I refused invites to show and shine in N.S.W. , where I am from .

The Scott Boulder was lovely with some excellent parts on it, I am confused why they would then opt for Deore LX, nothing wrong with it, I have the 1st Deore LX GS on my 92 Retro Bike, but surely you would go for XT/ XTR with a bike of that caliber ? Thanks for the video, I love my Retro MTBs, I have 2 of my own, maintained to a very high standard, The Trek is Early noughties though, "Retro" would be pushing it, but it still has V Brakes (with the holes & cable guides for Disc Brakes) , but with more modern geometry, front suspension etc. The other is completely rigid custom Alu build done for a Bike Shop/ Person (Bill NIckson) cantilevers, Mavic 231's and Maxxis racing Larsen TT's front and rear, and of course Deore thumbshifters

The main frame and wheels are orig, but many other parts are upgrades/ replacements, orig thumbies, Renthal Bars, Rolls saddle and some other bits@@robertmcfadyen9156

Just because you don't see a certain make of bicycle at a show or exhibition doesn't necessarily mean that there isn't one or two out there . The owner may wish to keep it in the family . Not everyone that owns a rare mtb wishes to exhibit it .
