I love that you did this. I collect old radios, the big ones like this.

These radios are so cool and nostalgic. Thanks for the comment and feedback. A lot of people hate that I didn’t restore it to original, but I kinda think I did restore it for the current time period.

What a fantastic idea to simulate an old radio, tuning of the dial and mixing in static; great idea playing old 20's music ! Awesome job !

I'm restoring the actual radio in a Philco 37-11X, and I could sure use the coils that you gutted from the section around the bandswitch shaft, assuming the sandblasting didn't destroy them all.

The Radio Pleasure Palace oh no so sorry but I figured nobody would ever want those. I actually said those words while throwing them out. I do have the speaker and some capacitor housings if you want those.

@@CodeMakesItGo Never assume nobody would ever want those. It's amazing the crazy little things you need when restoring a radio that would be outrageously expensive if you didn't have a junker around from which to steal the part you need!

Great job! I also have a radio cabinet that I just finished restoring and I am now trying to figure out the internals. I have a raspberry pi, a pam 8403 amp with potentiometer for volume control, and just got a rotary encoder. I am now trying to make the rotary encoder work to be able to control the menu of the raspberry pi. Any suggestions on how to code this functionality? I definitely need help with this piece. Again, great job!

Matt Votisek I can definitely help out. Sounds like you want the rotary encoder to switch internal modes like a software switch. Or do you have an actual visual menu display? Email me at jason.altice@codemakesitgo.com with info. Thanks for watching!

I was hoping they were going to properly restore this, but then I noticed sandblasting the tuning cap and painting the tube sockets... Wait...what? I'm gutted it got gutted...

You're not alone, purists hate me for it. But it gets used a lot now. I bet it wouldn't if I restored it to original and it only tuned in AM stations. I like that I kept the original look and feel and made it play music from its era. But appreciate people like you that want a proper restore instead.
