This animation was pretty crazy for its time. Still holds up in some ways today.

For its time" 90s animation was far better than the 100% of the animation on weekly animes from 2000s and 2010s, only some animes of kyoto animation or ufotable are the exception. At that time computers were not common in animation, it were drawn by hand, and that make the animation more natural and fluid, But it also takes more time and is more expensive because you need to hire more animation, and nowadays is imposible with the schedule of sudio animation, they need to produce 4-6 animes per year, and they only have like 7-8 months to produce it.

The point is that a death is like this version shows, no epic moment, not the world changing color and magestic music Its cold and quick and disgusting just like Kurapika feels, we see here what he sees, wich is the reality of killing someone

Exactly what he felt is emptiness no pleasure and no drama. He only killed him because he felt like he is obligated to. Not because he will enjoy it.

I may agree that Uvo's death was more impactful in the 2011 version, but in the 1999 version, Kurapika's first kill is more impactful because we actually see him get down and be like "shit, i've done it now, there's no turning back now, this is the path i've chosen", and we see him walking lookin' depressed and shit. In the 2011 version, after he kills Uvo, he just stumbles a bit because he used Emperor Time too much, then that's it, phones Melody and burries Uvo.

Its more "epic" in the 2011 version, wich doesnt make it better This should not be a badass moment, its sad and we should be worried about Kurapika, not cheering him on In my oppinion its kinda cringe, because its like they didnt understand what this all was about

they made his death really subtle, intentionally. Not meant to be epic at all, just as dirty as it is really killing someone

The animation and overall feel of the 1999 release of HxH is decidedly much better than the modern release, however, I think that the art style and voice acting are slightly better in the modern release of HxH.

more impactful...bs, flair doesn't do sh*t compared to GOAT cinematography, Substance >>> Flair

The 1999 version has bad cinematography if anything, after he kills uvo it is just a bad cut, it gives us no time to sink it in, and karapika in this version so little emotion unlike the 2011 version where he is clealy upset with killing having to kill uvo
