Many have asked for this video, and so finally I relent and must release the truth, I have a lot of shoes...here is every pair I own. Okay, bar one really, I have a very beat up pair of suede ankle books that were too worn out and sad to show...they live by the door for when I have to clear snow off the car or walk down to the post box, but otherwise, this is every pair of shoes I own!
Also, I fact checked myself, and actually Walmart sold Modcloth last October! So that's kinda nice.

They decided to shut up shop in the EU after the new GDPR regulations went into place in 2018, which I always found puzzling (and honestly kind of irritating), since basically everyone else seems to have managed to adapt to them somehow.

I did see a few weeks ago that the admin in the modcloth facebook group was contacted by the new owners wanting feedback from previous customers which I thought wasn't a terrible idea. Most said to rewind about 5 ish years, and bring back all the vintage inspired styles. My 2 cents was tell them to employ a small but educated team who are more in touch with their target market than the previous owners - clearly lol. I think you would be a great footwear advisor because that collection was magnificent!

Don't feel guilty about the cost. It is a wonderful collection of shoes that WAS VERY HARD TO FIND! It's hard looking and being able to find right accessories for an outfit. It takes a few years to coordinate an outfit on your tight budget. It's easy to go into a high-end store and buy it all at once when price is not a concern. Your vlog was so much fun to watch.

Not that you need more enabling, but have you checked out Memery shoes? She does retro reproduction shoes, and has some gorgeous styles I think you’d like. She really focused on the small details, which make the shoes look so perfectly authentic. I have a pair of her 30’s/40’s Everyday Walking shoes, and I LOVE them!

Hi, I always thought that a love for shoes were mandatory for a real proper lady. I see no reason to feel bad about having more than three pairs of shoes. Most of them were either a very good brand that will be nice for a lifetime or so, the others were in the collection for sentimental reasons. To me it seems to be a well curated collection, and there were, in my opinion, no evidence of misappropriation of funds, so enjoy without guilt. And most of all, enjoy without giving a flying...manure...to what anyone else thinks. I love the American Duchess of course, but who dosen't. The other brands I have to look into as there is nothing like those in the wold I live in. Yours, Ann Edit: By the way what was the proper way to wear open toes or sandaly types of shoes in their era? Would you wear them with stockings, or without? Does anyone know? The navy pumps look very much like my mother's shoes from her graduation as a nurse in 1963 except maybe a little difference in the shape of the heel. They wore a very special kind of uniform in black. Very formal, and as far as I know she stil has saved the uniform, including the real silk stockings she wore with it. Re: The scuff mark I've done that with a pair of patent leather shoes that I love. I took them to a real shoe cobbler and they were able to fix them up, so now you can't even see were the mark was. Thank you! They would wear stockings with everything even opened toed shoes as far as I can tell from photos and my vintage catalogs. The catalog pages always seem to show stockings on, or at least they didn't draw in toes so I have to assume they must!

As a shoeaholic myself this was an awesome video!!! 👠👏😍 Not a big fan of the T-bar shoe style personally, hence why most of my shoes are modern even though I pair them with retro-looking dresses in the summer (my autumn/winter style is more modern clothing-wise anyway 😉). My favourites from your collection have to be those gorgeous turquoise mules n°19 (even though I know that style makes such a racket when walking 😳) and n° 16 those floral sandals are such cuties! 🥰

You can move the buttons on American Duchess shoes to help make them fit better (I believe they have a tutorial on their website) it might not fix all the fit problems, but at least make them more wearable? Your shoe collection is amazing!

I am a big fan of the shoes from the 30s, 40s and 50s. My 2nd grade teacher, wore shoes just like your #52. I swore that one day I would wear a pair of pumps like those...and I did, when I turned 40 I was able to buy a pair. Can't wear heals over 2" now, so no more spikes for me. They are beautiful though. Thanks for doing this video. The saddle shoes look alot softer than the ones I had to wear in grade school!! Our Dad used to take the hammer to the back heel part of the shoes so we wouldn't bleed as we broke them in. Lots of great memories for me in this video. Thanks!

I'm stupidly excited that we have some of the same shoes. I have the zest is history in 5 colours, and I had to get them all sent over from the US as Modcloth didn't ship to the UK for a while. My bank balance is upset that they do again... I have a permanent BAIT lacey search going on ebay at the moment, I can never find them in my size. I love all of your shoes.My one regret is that I found an old fashion shoe shop that was closing down.I bought lots of authentic real leather,real quality shoes that I loved.I then had a disability which meant I can only wear flat shoes.I gave them to charity.I always regret not just keeping them so this was a fantastic vlog for me to watch.I always keep my shoes,boots in their original boxes,with soft tissue paper where possible.How do you store your shoes?

Hi there, I admit that I didn't watch to the end. You have a very nice sense of style. I came for the thumbnail cream & green shoes with the scallops. Wedge shoes are for garden parties so that way you can wear a "heel" without sinking into the ground. Nice vid.

I think you are amazing, you are saving very special shoes for the future. Remember you are a practical historian and preserving artefacts for prosperity. I have a particular love for the CC41 label which was introduced in 1941 in Britain to ensure a fair distribution of the very limited new clothes during the war when clothes were rationed. I am always on the lookout on EBay and vintage fairs. I looked this week and there were a few pairs of ladies shoes and fur coats (obviously real fur in those days). I love the fact that you can genuinely date the piece of clothing. I am not sure if you had something similar in the USA. A fascinating video, thank you, really enjoy your vlog. You have some super cute shoes. I think I must be the oddest person ever, I love buying shoes, I just hate wearing them, as soon as I’m able I’m barefoot. In fact in my previous job I regularly took my shoes off.

I remember hearing of a French man who created a vending machine that dispensed Flats. He put the vending machines outside locations such as bars, night clubs, or restaurants where women would get dressed up for. And after being in heels for a few hours, many women would willingly pay 20 euros or so to have a pair of flats. My understanding is he was reasonably successful with that endeavor.

I feel that way about my nicer , more expensive shoes! I'll treat myself to them, but then not want to wear them... mostly it's a fear of messing them up. I've had a beautiful pair of velvet booties that I love for 15 years, but have only had the courage to wear them 3 times.

Numbers 9 & 10 and are a really sexy, retro, and very feminine wingtip. Very reminiscent of Elvis' blue suede shoes except they are a beautiful crimson almost patented leather look I like the red better than the blue ..😍😍😍 When I think of wingtips I normally picture a very masculine style of shoe.. The designer did a good job with the feminine translation. My favs so far.
