Hi Kev, your right on the weather , we are going down to minus 9 tonight & minus 19 Tuesday. Minus 4 is a warm spell, it’s - 22 in Calgary. I the mileages on some of cars very low , and very little rust . Always enjoy your blogs , I find myself trying to read all the road signs and then check google earth . Wow what a car lotus carlton y scrap a great car cuz of insurance and that Ford Fusion only 59k miles tidy car and my grandad used to own one 04 reg that was scraped to about 180k miles and had a faulty engine cuz he was using his other car a Ford Focus 55 reg so engine didn’t work I loved that fusion miss it 😢 and it was pre facelift in red that quite rare just realised that the fusion went to auction happy about that

Both me and my wife were drinking a cup of tea when you got to the Lotus Carlton and we both raised our eyebrows over our cups, in absolute horror. You had us going there for a minute. Glad it is being restored. Built to compete against the Sierra Cosworth's back in the day but the rozzers didn't like them as some used to end in the hands of villains ! I was working at a property back in the 90's and the neighbour bought one, just had his drive re-laid with about 8 inches of Ringwood gravel and he drove onto it and promptly sank. I had to go and dig him out with a mini excavator, really funny but he was not amused LOL

DVLA says the Carlton has a 3615cc engine, which makes it a real Lotus. Would be an absolute crime not to save it.

Yes very much a real Lotus. The only thing that was Vauxhall about it is the body, the rest is a pure bred sports car. Used to love those cars back in the day. When the British government try to ban them, you know their a mean super fast car!!

My mates dad had a Datsun 240Z. It was a pocket rocket. He also had a Lotus Cortina which his dad’s dad bought brand new in 1966. Nice to see that 240Z in the Gulf Racing colours.

Lotus Carlton (Figured you know what you had on the back). Engine as used in the GSi, bored out from 3.0 to a 3.6 twin turbo producing 377BHP/418lb ft torque. Quoted top speed was 176MPH, 0-60MPH 5.1 and at the time was the fastest 4dr saloon which caused an absolute right furore at the time. Price new £50k. An absolute legend....

There was a Lotus Carlton near me (it may still be there in a garage), there tends to be a collection of the last decently Citroeny Citroens there now... Of course the people most narked about the Lotus Carlton - the Police who'd just been sold a job lot of Senators. There's a good Jasper Carrot line on the Lotus Carlton - a family car that can do 180mph, who's the family? Mr & Mrs Fittipaldi! (you'd have though Mansell would have been more appropriate...) An occasional visit to that place would be lovely - indeed there have been a few gems that you've passed in a few videos.

Not a chance Stuart. Those Lotus Carltons need professional specialists working on them far beyond what Kev could do, plus in good condition their worth about 70/80k no way is Trent going to donate that.
