the akira class doesn't get enough respect in trek but it's a heavy cruiser. it's got a full fighter wing. this thing packs a torpedo pod that allows it to spam torpedoes similar to the nebula class.

The akira is a MONSTER, 15 torpedo launchers, 5 of which are quantum torpedoes, it’s essentially nearly 4-6 galaxy classes with torpedoes alone, it’s phasers are also still very powerful, having 3 type 10 phaser arrays (for comparison a galaxy class has 12) this should be MORE than enough to take down the Vulcans shields. Its predecessor the alita class, would wipe out an entire fleet of Vulcan empire ships real talk.

Ah.. this was before I fell in love with the Akira.. OH MY.. lol... I just now realized the shape of the Vulcans ship wow.. ok.. Yes, even read the Akira had quantums, tri-cobalts and hell fire thingies.. eeh.. lol That big hole in the hull will buff out eeh... Well done Mon Capitan... I would assume an error in the one that designed the ship for the game. Looking at the ship itself it only seems logical to have aft torpedos as well

I think the Akira class was designed to have a large number of photon torpedo launchers rather than any quantum launchers. It seems in canon trek that quantum launchers work quite differently, the fire rate seems to be slower and the launchers appear to take up more space on the ship. This is why the Sovereign for example has a couple of forward photon launchers in addition to the forward quantum launcher. Ships with quantum launchers appear to be extremely rare even late into DS9, we actually never see any ships fire a quantum in all of Trek, aside from the 2 USS Defiants, the Valiant, and the Enterprise-E. The only other ship confirmed to have them is a Lakota, which was so heavily upgraded that it’s phaser arrays we’re drastically more powerful than a Vor’Cha class attack cruiser (fairly easy to tell based on seeing the effect of both ships firing on the Defiant).

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure that the DS9FX mod allowed you to switch to quantums on the Akira-class. It didn't have a whole load of them, but you could wade through practically anything.
