Two years ago I made a comment on this video that I still regret, so I erased it as I feel it does not represent who I am or how I feel about your videos. I love your in depth Indy reviews including this one, which I have watched multiple times since it was released. I know it might be weird to still think about a youtube comment I left years ago, but it still bugged me even years later. I'm sorry for that stupid comment. I probably just had a very bad day and just didn't process it right. I just needed to get this out. Thank you for continuing to make great work, Michael!

Too young to have experienced Kenner Indiana Jones, and “Too old” (aka pretended I was too cool) for Hasbro Indiana Jones. I never had any of the toys unfortunately. So this is a wonderful look into everything that I missed out on. Had these figures come out in the 90’s I would’ve lost my mind. I ran around the yard with my dad’s old capgun (sans caps) and a jump rope for a lasso singing the Indiana Jones theme to myself. So these toys would’ve seen heavy play, especially with Joes. I can see it now, Indy leading a Joe team to look for some artifact or other to thwart Cobra’s plan.
@joevictor53 Жыл бұрын
Kinda the same here. I was 16 when Indy 4 came out and I loved the movie but I just felt I was "too old" and "too cool" for toys at that stage. By the time I realised that you could buy appreciate them as an adult (a year later), they had pretty much all gone and there were just a few random ones available on clearance. Definitely not making that same mistake this year but I'm worried that Disney won't put as much effort into marketing Indy the way they did Star Wars or how Paramount did with Indy last time

This is probably my new most favorite Retroblasting feature, thanks to everyone who worked on it. =) ALSO! I just remembered how I got my figures of Temple of Doom Indy, Short Round, and Thugee Taskmaster several years ago. I was in a toy store in a local mall that sold a lot of bootlegs and I saw a large bin FILLED with loose 2008 Temple of Doom figures being sold dirt cheap. I actually thought they were bootlegs but when I got home I found the date and Hasbro markings on them so they were the genuine deal. If only I knew back then!

A great video and content from all parties. Bravo to you at Retroblasting, Analog Toys, and Mr. Kearns. I have spent the last few months constructing my own Ultimate Raiders Indy from your video and it sits as a nice display piece. I wish the line had more moxy and people flew to it like they had Star Wars. This is a line of missed opportunities and unfulfilled potential. But theres some decent figures and the vehicles are a great last hurrah for Hasbro and their vehicle aversion. I wish the line had more so we could have the full cast of the films and even the unreleased Marvel comic packs from "The Further Adventures of Indiana Jones" and expansion into stories like "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles" and "The Fate of Atlantis." But alas. A fantastic video on all fronts, and brilliantly informative. Bravo.

*Fun facts about the Colonel Vogel figure:* If you look on the black armband, you can make out a dotted circle that indicates that it was at least designed to be coloured. Also, in 2009 the body and accessories were reused in the _Marvel Universe_ line's *Invaders* pack for - appropriately - the Red Skull figure, complete with a detailed HYDRA armband.

@darrenhood40332 жыл бұрын
I will just say that as a walmart employee in 2008. Wave 3 was ordered in the same amounts as wave 1 and 2. Since they were released within a few months of each other, buyers basically took it on faith that the line would sell because Hasbro assured us that this movie was going to be a big thing like Transformers was the year before. The hype for Indy 4 was also huge, there was talks that it would be THE movie of the summer. Wave 1 and 2 were issued simultaneously and I can remember setting up the huge endcap display of these toys. The indy figures all sold first followed by Marion (shortpacked), the soldiers, and the new characters. The only shelf warmers we had were the Ugah and Cemetery warriors Monkey Man and Belloq in his robes. We ordered a restock, and then the movie hit. Now we were stuck with 2 waves of figures and a 3rd wave on the way, which other than Indy and the machine gun, the rest sold poorly. This is what led to the underordering of the Temple wave. Meanwhile the movie that ended up owning the summer "The Dark Knight" we couldn't keep those on shelves especially the Heath Ledger Joker figure.
@darrenhood40332 жыл бұрын
Also, I might add that the lost wave was supposed to be wave 5. The figures were sculpted and photographed for retailers, and online stores even having pre-orders of them. I ordered a set on entertainment earth until the line's cancellation ended that. Fans were livid, wanting these released either as an online exclusive or a store exclusive. Hasbro told fans for over 3 years it was not going to happen, until 2011 and the 30th anniversary of Raiders gave them the idea to release as a SDCC set. A move that angered fans and, has valued this set at close to 1,000 dollars on the secondary market because of how desirable it is. As for the other vehicles that never saw release, Hasbro had intentions on releasing more, but the lack of sales on the other vehicles post movie really hampered that idea. One vehicle that was never going to happen was the flying wing. Hasbro reps said due to the length and overall size of it, it was not cost feasible to spend money on tooling and production on such a project in its first year. Maybe down the line should the line sell to expectations, we could have seen something. Heck maybe through Haslab we will see something.

@simonrobinmontrosetaylor16262 жыл бұрын
With such a deep love of the original three films, I have to admit, seeing this rage of figures and vehicles as an adult years later had me feeling every bit like a kid again... Back when the films came out, my parents could never have afforded to get me these kind of toys, and so I was unaware of the original 80's line, which kinda made it even sweeter to have a fully articulated 3.75" Indiana Jones figure decades later. I didn't see the bad face sculpt, I didn't see the huge cumbersome holster, or the (scruffy?) trousers, I saw a fantastically colored, highly detailed cool looking action figure of my all time hero. I guess I saw it through the eyes of when I was a kid, and it looked great to me, after all, I wasn't looking for perfection. Seeing this line of toys scrutinized to within (3.75) inches of its life seems unfair, compared to some action figures, the line looked rushed, compared to others out there, it looked good, to those of us who weren't quite as spoilt, it looked amazing.

Grant, if you don't like my face and the tone of my voice, you need to either keep that to yourself or move along, because telling someone that their entire personality is the problem is a really horrible thing to tell someone when you have no certainty what their actual intentions are in the emotions they want to convey. If I was on the spectrum, you'd be in real hot water right now. You need to check your comments like this in the future with people. Nobody makes an hour and 20 minute video for something they hate, and I was very complimentary about this line throughout this video. It's clear you weren't listening because you don't like the tone of my voice. Well, my dude - step off the pier while I wave good bye, because I can't solve your problem with me. That's on you. - Michael

@@retroblasting sorry. This was never a comment on your personality. It’s seeing the difference while you listen to Matt talk about playing with these as toys vs ridiculing and sarcastic with Tony.
