Nintendo needs interest to be super high for the Switch 2, and, notwithstanding this discussion, my next handheld will be a handheld pc, not a Switch 2. Their continued messing with people I respect online is partly why I won’t give them a dollar, and market forces and the blending of console and PC is also involved. Adobe had the exact same thing happening. They were nr1 because people pirated their stuff, learned, and later became professionals, and bought their products. Without piracy they would have never been big. Sadly Adobe AND Nintendo now go full enshitification. They dont honor the society deal, that any proliferation of their stuff is in the long-term a net-benefit. Nintendo is so big, because its everywhere. Its everywhere, because its pirated. People pirate 1 game, and buy 3. Thats how it works, because they got hooked on it with the 1 game. Even fucking drug dealers know this. The first hit is ALWAYS free. Make them addicted, and then cash in. Its smart business. But no. Thats not how to do it anymore. Pure enshitification of the world.

@@Nqd-r6rwhat a stupid take. Russ has shown in dozens of videos him spending hundreds if not thousands of dollars buying retro games while he travels the world and has even stated that if his house ever caught fire the first thing he’d grab is the binder with all his Switch games because “it’s the most expensive thing in the house”. He made his whole channel because he learned how difficult it was to get into the technical details of the emulation scene and wanted to help others. Everyone has the absolute legal right to play their games on whatever hardware they desire, this has even gone to court multiple times and it’s always come out on top for the consumers. Just because you hate how some people use pirated roms for emulation doesn’t mean you should go condemning everyone who is into the hobby…. Do you condemn all who watch/play sports because some people cheat??? What an absolutely L take. Turn off all your electronic devices for at least an hour and think on what you said…

@@Nqd-r6rRuss literally purchases his Nintendo games. Game preservation is not illegal and emulation is not illegal. He literally has a binder full of games that he’s showcased in one of his videos. Nintendo is going after him only because of the fact that he made a video on the MIG switch which CAN be used for piracy. It can also be used for game preservation. Get your facts straight before commenting. It’s absolutely insane you even got 4 thumbs up.

Hey, great video! The device does seem premium, but the price tag is sadly still a little much for me 😅. I do have a question though: regarding the analog sticks, I think I'd like it if some brand used the "thumb sticks" the psp has, to give an analog input option without reducing pocketability. What do you think?
@bungalowfeuhler1541Ай бұрын
The two things that made the GameBoy Micro my fscorite console of all time were the way the tiny screen made pixel-graphics look gorgeous, and it’s amazing pocketability. It was so easy to just toss it in your pocket. That’s why I want a true clone of the original Micro that can play more games. But it’s going to need 3DS-style circle-pads instead of the Vita ones that stick out and eliminate all of its pocketability. What’s the point of a device that seems so easy to toss in your pocket if doing so is just going to tear off the rubber coatings on your sticks and then pocket lint will grind under the sticks and cause them to start drifting. Especially when it’s probably impossible to replace the sticks.

@@zerocal76 Russ said this on X: "Hey folks, I appreciate your kind responses and I am taking your advice to heart. But to be clear, leaving comments openly advocating piracy is not in the spirit of this channel, and likely hurts my case." As long as "other means" is buying used, that's fine. But if they're insinuating piracy, that's an issue. Piracy used to be discreet, now people openly brag about it, and that is definitely problematic in the emulation scene.

When it comes to premium-feeling devices like this i like to have a dedicated carrying case to throw in my bag rather than putting it in my pocket or just leaving it at home. I would never dream of putting my PCH-1000 Vita in my pocket all day, but I love bringing it with me. Dear Nintendo. I would not have paid money for any of your retro games otherwise, because you fail to provide a better experience over emulation and handhelds like this. It's either piracy or nothing. Things like Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition gladly get my money, because you offer something special there. Do more of that, do less nickel and diming, and less copyright striking. It's your own fault.

This. If Nintendo wants to be jerks, creators should stop giving them free advertising. Never mention them except to point out the terrible things they're doing. Briefly include one or two blurred-out bleeped-out demos of N games in each video, to reiterate the point, but otherwise dedicate all the screen time to more ethical game studios.

@@aaronjames7266 No, I get that. My point is more that they have this pair of devices and they made them similarly “Gameboy” themed. Not saying it was an ergonomic decision, and definitely seems like the chipset in the DMG version is wayyyy too much for the form factor. I think it would have made a lot more sense and would have been cooler if they went for a standard GBA shape for the micro instead, but that’s probably just my personal nostalgia.
