I was 15 or so when I first played SMB. Blew my mind. Streets ahead of what my Atari can do! Atari ignited my passion for games, but NES renewed my faith. SMB2 was the right call for the USA. Dialed up difficulty of the same basic game may have flipped here. If you can't top something, make it different. Great call! With all that time, they were able to make Super Mario Bros 3. They've made great use of their time. Super Mario Bros 3 is probably the finest game on the NES. It is certainly my favorite, next to Star Tropics.

Game Sack has become a classic. Even if it has fewer followers than some other big channels, it is one of the most competent and focused. It´s really about the games and the knowledge about it. Plus it´s funny!

The awkward 'banter' preludes, the bad acting, the wooden script-reading, the 3rd rate dad-jokes, on the other hand we have some incredible editing by Joe, and of course the likeability of our hosts. Although we lost Dave, so we no longer have the same level of unadulterated cringe as before, 'Sack still does a mean gaming nostalgia show.

Oh and in 6th grade (90-91) I had a great experience with StarTropics. I rented it from our local mom and pop video store. No instruction booklet included. I got to the point where you need to dip the letter in water and was stuck. So my mom called the video store and told them the situation. So the lady at the store called her sister who ran their other location on the other side of town and they had a copy with the instructions and the letter. So a while lady the phone rang and I answered (I was home sick from school) and it was the lady from the other store and I told her what she need to do and she read me the code and asked if that made any sense to me and I said yes and thanked her

Metroid requires a good memory or a stack of paper?? No, not really. People who haven’t lived in those times don’t understand. I know you guys get it. There wasn’t anything to compare these to. There wasn’t any way to have a real opinion on these games. You were fascinated by all of them. You just played and played and got to know the areas and the mechanics so well. I remember blowing up every single area that I could find. Just like in Zelda 1. On every screen we would try to blow up every inch of the walls and try to burn every single bush. It was a process but there really wasn’t anything else like it so we loved every minute of it.

I have been an original hardware type of guy. Now it's getting harder to find an old TV and I must admit I have grown quite found of my 4k Samsung. It seems the price of old consoles are on the rise so buying all of them and then trying to have a setup that is somewhat neat and don't need a ton of space seems like a tall order. I have just purchased my first emulation box. After seeing some KZbin videos of people playing on 5 different systems in a few minutes I think that will be my future. I like the ease and the idea of having all of these games in one convenient package at a very reasonable price. At the end of the day I just want to play the games that brought me joy and that I may not had the skill, time or patience to beat then, that I would like to finish now.

21:56 You actually DO NOT have to hold up constantly in Rad Racer. Once you reach top speed (255 km), you can let go of up and just hold the gas. You retain 255km and can naturally build up to it slowly by just holding the gas down normally. Yeah, you have to hold up to engage the turbo, but it's not something you have to absolutely have active all the time.

Mega Man...just wow. I remember back when Mega Man was still quiet new. When Mega Man first launched in 1987 I had an Nes and Master System. Many of my friends talked about how awesome the game was but I was too involved with Castlevania for the Nes and Space Harrier for the Master System. I technically missed out on the first Mega Man as I didn't actually get to play it until the early 2000's. No, my first experience with Mega Man happened while at a sleep over in early 1989. It was on my best friend's birthday and he got a few games (Castlevania, Jackal, and Mega Man 2). After playing Jackal for a few hours he threw on Mega Man 2...and it blew my mind. Just after hearing it one night it stuck in me like nothing had ever before. I would get my copy not to long after. Incredible.

what makes Mario games better than the rest? It's not the music, because you can always go to Megaman for that. when it comes to music, Capcom was always the best for me. But it's when Mario, does a turn (like in SMB1), you see him slide, get friction from the floor, then momentum picks up and he may feel the inertia when he jumps. It just works, and Mario's animation is on point to reflect these physics. Speaking of Megaman, that also has amazing physics. Most games don't do that, you know? And for platformers, you may notice it in a real negative way.

They only brush-over Weaponlord at around 56:00 - It's true, the game was jank as hell, really a sub-par fighting game in a lot of ways, but it was packed with so many neat ideas. Once you figured out the fatality system it was it's own little mini-game seeming how many bits you could take off your enemy before they fell over. The roster, music, and overall tone of the game were also like 100-times better than any of the actual fighting. Such a flawed masterpiece.
