Russ? You speak Indonesian? I'm Indonesian and never did it cross my mind that you could speak Indonesian!

Honestly, I love this guy, he's chill, he's practical and he's interesting. I have no interest in traveling or food (extreme dietary restrictions, makes it not fun or enjoyable), but because it's Russ, it's still a really interesting video. Great stuff, Russ, I'm assuming you won't see this, but just in case, thanks for sharing your handheld experiences while traveling even though... You're supposed to be relaxing 😂

I just got back home from my vacation to Japan, and I brought my RG353V with me. I mainly used it when I was on the long flight between the West Coast and Japan and on the bullet train from Tokyo & Kyoto. Definitely the perfect way to pass the time to have a retro handheld and play a game like Golden Sun!

Personally I'd like to see the mini PC and the new Powkiddy handheld. Handheld PCs are nice and all, but since they're way more expensive we go for a new model at a much slower pace, so delaying the reviews a bit isn't as bad as it is for something cheap that we tend to change for a better model more often.

@@EpicPrintingShop - I have been seriously looking to buy this November, and I'm sucked in by the allure of what might be round the corner. A machine that can emulate 100% of the PS2 catalogue successfully ideally, and so I keep coming back to the Retroid 3+ and the Anbernic RG405M. And being a novice with ROMs etc, I don't want to jump to a really high end system and then realize, I have no idea what I'm doing! (Baseline is, an aviation engineer level of understanding here).
@EpicPrintingShop
@EpicPrintingShop Жыл бұрын
@@dazzle52k52 I honestly don't think the next generation of affordable handhelds like these will be able to play 100% of the PS2 library at full speed. That said, I think they will be able to play a decent bit, probably 50-75%. More if you are ok with frame skip. Probably the gen after that will get 100% or at least very close to it. PS2 is not much more complicated than the typical retro consoles. The main difference is you'll need the BIOS file, otherwise it's pretty much the same. Throw the ROMs in a folder, and hit play. There might be some setting to tweak, but it's not too complicated.

Love the format of this one-fantastic vacation footage and summary to kick things off.-I’m politely jealous of the culinary journey as well as the beautiful sights you enjoyed, thank you for sharing a peek behind the curtain! I also enjoy the call to action at the end, especially the excellent extent to which you are previewing upcoming videos with all the fun things you have received … perhaps a fun format evolution to consider moving forward? My vote for next up (after the One X, of course) might be the Air, but honestly I’m looking forward to each of the promised up-and-comers. And as others have noted, it’s always interesting when you share arbitrary details about your story outside of Retro Game Corps, yours is interesting journey and always fun to learn little factoids here and there. It’s inspirational and relatable even for those of us who may not share your background, so thank you for being generous in that regard as well. Sorry for the verbosity, wanted to make sure I not only fed the algorithm but also articulated my continued praise for your work and the way in which you construct and present content. Appreciate you and all that you do, thank you!

(5:45) You're correct! Having lived here for a LONG time, I can confirm that these are some of the hottest temperatures we've had, also assuming your mention of '10 degrees hotter' is in Fahrenheit rather than Celsius. I do find that the temperatures here tend to be cooler around the start and end of the year, or in other words, tropical but loosely following northern hemisphere seasons. I carry small towels in my backpack that I then use to wipe off my sweat when I'm out and then throw into the laundry basket when I get home. I also often find myself taking the first public bus I see at a stop in order to get into an air-conditioned space if I'm not in a hurry. I try to schedule my plans such that I go out more often during the cooler months and stay home during the warmer months. (4:52) 'hawker centres' is the actual term you may have been thinking of. I imagine you missed out on stuff like beef rendang, sugar cane juice, and/or 4Fingers chicken. (5:07) 'indoor malls' They're the norm here, and mixed developments that have a mall below and condominium flats on top are also common here. However, I often forget about outdoor shopping malls being a thing in countries like the US and Australio until I watch a TV programme or KZbin video or read a book (illustrated/comic) that shows one. They do exist here, just not in the same way, and only in residential areas, not in the city.

When traveling, the smaller, the better. If I went on vacation, I would either bring my modded Vita 2K or modded PSP 2K. I was actually going to sell my PSP 2K. I owned the phat for 11 years but left it in the Philippines when I moved back to the SoCal. My bro before moving to NYC in 2019 was the one who gave me that PSP 2K. I decided to go against selling it because I actually fell in love with the size and weight. I also like the fact that a PSP has a removable battery and you can still turn it on without it like my old Sony VAIO laptop. You can't do this on the Vita. They still make decent batteries for the PSP. Thanks to a Reddit post, I recently got the Cameron Sino battery from Amazon for $20 and it definitely lasts longer than the previous one I got from eBay. I estimate 3-4 hours as suggested instead of 1 hour or less I got from the previous one. Depends what I play. It drains faster using an emulator like PicoDrive. If I got one of those retro handheld to travel with, it's definitely the RG405M. I just wish there is a plastic version of it to keep the weight down. At 250 g, that's a bit heavy. But that's like the closest to the most ideal retro handheld for me since it can play some GameCube and PS2. I'm getting used to the PSP 2K weight of 189 g, so my larger Vita 2K at 219 g starts to feel bulkier when it was the perfect size after I would game on a Switch Lite and before I got used to using the PSP again. I could never really want to travel with a Steam Deck. I think it's better than ROG Ally in most areas that matters to me like price, support, and convenience, but I would not want to bring that or a ROG Ally with me when I travel. Too big. Only 1 to 1.5 hour battery life. Flights to the Philippines is about 16 hours. From SoCal to Japan, it's about 9. Visiting my brother in Manhattan, that's about 5. So for my case, it would need to be a compact handheld and it needs to give me at least 5 hours of battery life. PSP and Vita fits the bill. I can bring both in a backpack and get a combined 6-10 hours from them. I would leave the Switch Lite at home. I actually use my SN30 Pro for it to avoid drift and play it in tabletop since my carrying case offers a kickstand, but it's just too big to bring with me. PSP 2K is far more pocketable. The only annoying part is bringing another cable for it to charge. My octopus cable doesn't have that really old standard for the PSP. PSP rules! That thing can outlive my Vita and even me! Removable battery can make things last beyond a lifetime. But I still do prefer my Vita because it does everything the PSP and more. The graphics on Vita are far nicer than PSP's. It's like going from Dreamcast graphics with lower res to original Xbox/Wii graphics on steroids. Over 28 gigaflops. Higher than any 6th gen home console released from 1998-2001. Compare Vita's size to the original Xbox and Wii. To think it's more powerful than both of them and it's still fairly pocketable? That's amazing engineering from 12 years ago. The Switch Lite with more than 10x more gigaflops than the Vita is nowhere near pocketable. But that's also amazing engineering when you compare the Switch's size to a PS3 and Xbox 360 and it has more gigaflops than those two and the Wii U. I'm good with what I have. Can't wait to get the Switch 2 Lite in about 3 years.

Hey Russ! Loved the video, and your footage while travelling was really interesting to see! I really enjoy that you do reviews but also videos like this that cover more practical situations for handheld usage. Glad you had fun on vacation and keep up the great work! :)
