Apparently Kinder Egg Surprise are banned in the USA because people were eating the yellow inner part?? I said to one of my American friends that I had some Kinder Eggs and I was telling her about the toys but she was confused as to why we had them if they were banned in the USA 😅 The G4 My Little Ponies have metal tail washers from what I know, well, I had a My Little Pony large Princess Luna figure, one of the dress up sized ponies and the tail was attached with a metal washer like the older ponies. I just got some G1 ponies and these are the first that I have ever had, my sister grew up with them though (jealous!) 😆 The G1 ponies have rusty washers unfortunately but my plan is to restore them and I'm watching these videos to learn how to do that 😉

They're so old that Hasbro didn't even have a patent for them yet haha My sister was born in '84 and grew up with so many toys and things like the Care Bears, the old stuff was good!

@@RetroGeekCrafts I believe in you! Plus I'd love to see those beautiful corals in some beautiful colors! 😍 I've seen some doll customizers use gouache paints (opaque watercolors) for smoother color transitions and easier touch-ups. Just something to think about. Since you're going to spray it with MSC to finish it anyway you just add a layer of MSC anytime you want to save your progress, if that makes sense.

Such a cool idea to make a scenic base for these guys! Especially since they don't display very well on their own, haha. For future reference as well, printed resin is extremely brittle, but if you put prints in hot water (not boiling), it softens the resin and lets you break off the supports much easier and with a much lower risk of breaking the actual piece itself!

My only comment is that I believe that the pearlescent paint is meant to be used with an airbrush, hence the very thin consistency. While it works the way you used it, and your description made perfect sense btw; I believe that the best way to get a nice even coat would be to use an airbrush. Granted you would have to own an airbrush and have experience using it as well for a good result, but you can get a basic gravity fed airbrush for probably 20-30 pounds if that's something that interests you.

Oh yay! I have been hoping to see some sea ponies :)

I had these cleaned a long time ago (hence the quality of the video) but I had never managed to finish them -- and then I got the printer and the first thing that came to mind were the bases 😊

Please paint the coral bases!! They’re so cute and the perfect addition to the sea ponies

Thank you 😊 I hope I can paint them soon!!

If you're worried about the whiteness of the pearlized paint, I've had great success tinting the pearlized paint to better match the base color! Just a little tip

That's a great tip! ☺️☺️ This particular paint only came in silver, at least there I got it, but I have to try other brands!

They look fantastic! I wish I had a resin printer, pretty sure my filament printer could not handle somethjng this intricate

Thank you so much 😊😊 I think you would need to make some of the stems thicker (mine were too flimsy, for any kind of printer) but you could achieve the same effect I think!

Thank you 😊 You can find some on eBay; these two tend to be relatively cheap. I'm glad you enjoyed the video!

you know what i think you should do? you should try making an lps (littlest pet shop) custom!! you mightve heard of them since theyre made by hasbro too, but i think it could be fun to paint something smaller if youd like :) (im literally painting an lps custom while watching this lol)

I would love to try one! Do you think it's okay to use in good condition or should I try to get a damaged one? I checked a coupe of times but they all looked good!
@grim_lie3 жыл бұрын
@@RetroGeekCrafts i would say its alright to use good condition pets, but if youre looking for a specific model id recommend buying older ones! (pets with a more natural fur colour and pattern, with matte, non-glossy eyes are older releases) but of course, if you find any damaged ones id buy those

To reach in to head I prefer o ring hooks to pliers. I picked up at harbor freight. It's a faster, safer, and easier way. Just hook twist and pull. If the glue is excessive I take a #1 flat head to scrape it loose.

Oh, I need to look into that!! Thank you so much for the tip 😊
