What fixed it for me was remelting all the solder connections of the stick, there was apparently one bad connection.

I have the same problem with both controllers and I need to buy a new soldering iron cuz the one I had it look like something has bitten on the tip. Maybe I should get soldering Iron station.

Pretty sure you can just put a new tip on there

I'm actually surprised this has happened. I've used Xbox 360 controllers, PS3 controllers and never had issues. There was one controller that turned ever so slightly on FPS games but no gamebreaker. But Dualshock 4s? They are notorious for getting stick drift within a year.

If I accidentally lifted off a ring during desoldering, can it still be saved? I'm annoyed I ruined it in the very last min :-(

It's gone friend i made the exact same mistake. Rip your and my xbox 360 controller.
@darude14203 жыл бұрын
@@xm214-aminigun9 I managed to fix it. By scraping off a bit of the trace, I tested to see if there's any contact with a multimeter, I took a very small piece of copper wire (from a cat 6 cable), tin it with solder both ends, drop one end on the trace with a drop of solder another on the pin. Remarkably saved it

What to do if after re-soldering a replacement analog (3rd party part) it drifts a bit to the left and downwards? Physically it looks straight in the center. Is there a way to log in to the controller to adjust it's analog possitions?
@Retrogranddad5 жыл бұрын
I never had that problem, could be the new stick is faulty in some way, I don't know if there is a way to configure the pad on a 360, but it should be ok for a pc if it's wired or you have a pc receiver thingy, as you can set the dead zones.

@@Retrogranddad Yea, it's a faulty switch. A lot of the aftermarket (Chinese) switches are defective from the start, or have longevity issues.

depends... the corner pads are just earth, so as long as the pins at the sides make contact it should be ok?

Good rule of thumb for flux is you can never have too much. Just makes cleanup more of a pain, but it's better to be overly clean by using a lot of flux, then have dirty connections.

@@SixStringViolence I got the joke, but the "new" ones floating around are all counterfeit and don't last 8 months. Let alone a decade like the OEM ones do. It's better to repair, it will be quicker in the long run because you won't have to wait on shipping for replacements constantly. lol

Sounds like the replacement switch is defective. Sadly a lot of the aftermarket switches are not good and either don't last long, or are defective from the start. You'll unfortunately have to repeat this repair again with another (higher quality hopefully) switch.
