Retroid Pocket 2+ For 99$ ! A Great Value Or Just Junk ?

I have an RP2+ and for the price it is a nice little portable handheld that can double as a portable game console. Pick up the right hdmi cable and add your favorite bluetooth controller! BTW the new RP3 has the same basic chipset as the RP2+ but with slightly larger memory options that will increase the cost if chosen... The RP3 does have a larger screen in it's favor....

I wanna know the touch screen cuz my rp2+ is my only complaint that and the sticks are not as good as the og rp2. I got my steam deck so I'm skipping the rp3 unless it fixes those things

I got this and I really like it. It's slightly more powerful than some other retro handhelds I have. For example, I was able to play The Simpson's Hit and Run, and Legend of Zelda for Gamecube at a very decent frame rate. SSX Tricky and Kingdom Hearts for PS2 ran pretty good as well. Not perfectly, but for $99 I don't expect it to be. One of the neat things I really like is if you plug in headphones, your headphone wire will act as an antenna, and the radio app will pick up lots of local radio stations! So not only can you play lots of games on this thing, you can listen to the radio too.

I love it. Granted, there are some minor issues with some games when balancing the aspect ratios with the shimmering, but that's all minor when you realize you can just plug this into your TV and play it that way. It's not a simple plug and play, but I love that you can tweak it. And yes, I bought the black one, and have the same fingerprint/wear issues.

Dreamcast works so good on this. I wanted N64 to work better.

Yeah n64 is one of the few that made me decide to hunt down my n64 and get an everdrive knockoff for. I still wish I had an actual everdrive cause the ED64+ is alright but I don't trust it to save even with the controller memory card. I have had it straight up crash mid game in the past. Ugh if only everdrives werent so damn expensive.

Been playing ffx on my rp2+ this is the best device you can get in a 100 dollar range. Don't bother getting a v90 or anything g else this will blow them out. I love watching KZbin videos and playing the legend of dragoon at 1.5x resolution...not to mention you can play some GameCube games not all 100% speed but very playable with configuration. If you don't get a steam deck or something similar get this now.

Also ps2 is playable as well, mostly rpgs and it won't be 100% but ffx is almost perfect with the right settings.

So late to the party man 🫣🤭😜 The RP2+ is so much enjoyable with better DPad and buttons than the original RP2 and the touch screen is way more handy in the menus. The Retroid Launcher is simple and complete, best in it's category ! And Dreamcast plays awesome on this handheld ! So I love mine and I just ordered the new RP3 🥰🤩😍 for more comfort on PSP, some few 16/9 Dreamcast games, perfect aspect ratio with GBA and Xbox GamePass streaming 😎🥰.

For the price, the RP2+ is difficult to beat. I have two of these (bought them second-hand, barely used (if at all), for about $70 USD each). Considering all what they play, they beat Anbernic out at that price point. You would have to go up to an RG353 series just to get close to matching performance.

So, on Aliexpress they mostly seem to be jacked up to $140. At that price range which is better, this or an Anbernic RG353P because your RG353P review made it look superior to the Retroid.

love mine, the only thing i didn´t like at all are the buttons. the D-pad suuuuuucks, it´s noicy so you cant play next to someone studying or sleeping and i´m sure some imputs don´t get registered. I have the grey one, retro with pink buttons. I bought some extra ones on purchase, all black and they seem to be made of a different material, maybe they work better.. The config was a pain for me as a beginner.. i´m talking days tinkering and watching tutorials for stuff to properly work.

I've got one and I enjoy the functionality is great, but the form factor leaves a bit to be desired. It's not very comfortable for extended play. I'll probably pick up an Anbernic 353 because of this, as well as the dedicated function button.

I bought this a while back. Although I do not regret it I find myself wishing I had bought a Anbernic 351 or 353 instead. I much prefer the Linux frontends, I have tried many on the Retroid but never feels quite as slick a set up.

i have rp2+ and rg351p and i play the rg351p more its just a dream to pick up so addicting cause it all just works and its all set up perfectly and the buttons are so good i find myself using them as a fidget toy half the time its in my pocket

I just tried the Daijisho front end on mine that was shown on ETA Prime's latest video and it is really really nice. Yeah I get the appeal a Linux front end but I wanted this specifically for its android capabilities.

For the tag price is worth it, normally I don't see the point on expensive android based handhelds since you can just slap a controller to an old smartphone and you can get much better performance for around same or less money, but at 99 is near impossible to beat, unless you buy an old used smartphone since a controller alone if you want something decent will be at least 70... it is indeed a lot of work to set up everything but I bet a lot of ppl have more fun tinkering around setting everything up than playing the games lol

I still love the V90 from Powkiddy or that miyoo handheld. Cheap .. nice display and can play all of my favorite games. Shall dive into the storage and see to make a TOP 5 or 10 version this year.

When playing on the first Retroid Pocket on the RP launcher I could play MvC 2 with a LOT better performance. Also think that today the RP3 is a better value with bigger screen and better buttons.

Great Handheld once you get it up and running I had problems getting games on my SD card turned out it was fake beware of these 🙂. Bought a new Samsung 256gb from Amazon works like a dream now.

Just put this in the suitcase together with an HDMI cable and two SN 30 Pro: heading towards vacation with my brother for a week and this should be plenty fine for the retro fix at the pool or endless Garou sessions once the sun has set. And should it get swiped, it would be more bearable than would the same happen to my Ayn Odin.
