That said, you highlighted great reasons to want to own the RP5, but you also calmed me to the point that I am ok sitting and waiting for the full release to then re-assess how I feel and if I should pick it up then. Probably a good idea to put the text layer in front of yourself. I had to rewind and then pause as the predicted battery numbers came in because your shoulder covered the PS2 data the whole time it was displayed. For anyone wondering, the number behind his shoulder is a 5. So it's 5.5 at 2x.

2K subs yet better than a lot of people that review handhelds, so unfair. Btw thanks for testing F-Zero GX on the hardest track to run, so annoying when people do Mute City, and not even enabling the Dual Core, the fact that it can run at solid 60 fps on 2X is a fucking mirracle, I have been waiting for it for almost 10 years to play on a small OLED device. And it is only 200€.... When EtherealSX2 comes out next year, this thing will be even more godlike. I will get the Pocket Mini but this has the same chip, thanks so much for the review. By any chance could you do Darkwatch, Silent Hill 3, Manhunt, Black, Ghosts in the Shell Stand Alone complex with 60 fps patches? Crazy good games that no one has tested for some reason :/

Wow i agree WARZONE should be the golden standard even my snapdragon 8 gen 3 struggle on Warzone due to its 2k display, looks like 1080p with 865 works so well i see almost 60fps on his video …even retrocorps review is like just reading the specs only used for testing is emulator which is nonsense since its understandable that it will work ,, PLS REVIEWERS DONT USE benchmark testers its nonsense…warzone is a must on this upcoming handheld to test

Pulled the trigger on a black one yesterday morning. You should NEVER buy a system for what it _might_ become, only for what it is right now, but even now it's pretty awesome even if we don't get the promised updates. This will be my first Retroid device. I'm a tiny bit apprehensive over potential QA issues from the record of past devices, but I feel like the RPmini was a test. If the biggest issue with the RPmini is a problem that can't happen on the RP5 because it has a different screen then I should be happy with my purchase. It should take some weight off my Steamdeck.

Look for setup guides for the retroid pocket 4. Theyll work fine for the RP5.

It has some pre-installed emulators but no games, retro game corps has a great guide for the Retroid pocket 4 that applies to this one too. I'm going to do a dual boot guide soon, so that might be helpful too.

It comes with android 13 and you can dual boot to a Linux OS from a micro SD card.

I usually don't bother testing it unless it's noticeable, but from what I've read it is better than the Odin 2, and it makes sense since oled screens have a faster pixel response.

I would get the rp5 because I don't really like the whole controller and phone set up the edge has, but if you can get a good deal on it (around 150 usd) then it's worth it, I should perform a little better.

Retroid said it's not finished yet, the audio doesn't route to the external monitor and the new launcher isn't done, so there's not much of a point in covering it yet.

I don't see that happening, Retroid does budget/midrange devices. Nothing's really going to properly emulate switch games, if you want something for the switch my advice is to get a switch and mod it.

I don't test latency unless it's an issue and I didn't notice any. I wouldn't use a KZbin video as a measuring stick for latency unless it was specifically testing for it.

Not when you consider it's not the same performance or stability as a phone with the same chip as the benchmarks show, and that it's a dedicated gaming device with a great screen for around 200 usd. A more powerful device would be more expensive, and we already have the Odin 2 and Odin 2 mini for that.
